Team Penske IZOD IndyCar Series driver Will Power underwent further testing in Indianapolis on Monday for a back injury suffered in a multi-car accident during the series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, Oct. 16.

After experiencing pain in his upper back following the tragic accident that ultimately claimed the life of driver Dan Wheldon, Power was evaluated and released from University Medical Center in Las Vegas on the evening of the crash with no evidence of significant injuries.

On Monday, however, it was determined by series orthopedic specialist Dr. Terry Trammell that Power suffered a compression fracture of his fourth thoracic vertebra in the accident. Dr. Trammell expects Power to recover from the injury with rest and rehabilitation.

Trammell will consult further with Power in the coming days to determine the next steps in his recovery. Power hopes to be able to continue testing the 2012 IndyCar in the coming weeks and he is expected to be fully healed and ready to compete for Verizon Team Penske in the 2012 IZOD IndyCar Series.

I had forgotten that but I think that you are correct, wilson! His injury at Sonoma was more severe, I think. I'll take a look...

Yeah I was there at Infineon the day he had his accident I didnt see it actualy happen when it occured I dont remember where I was but I wasn't in the stands yet but I remember they had to use the helicopter for him. At Vegas he was standing up doing an interview after the accident so I would say it is alot less painfull, but after reading the doctor said basicly the same thing so I am guessing we will not see any testing of the new car from him. Atleast until right before the season starts.
