Honestly it may effect Rusty more than Ryan. I honestly think that Newman can drive anything with wheels no matter what make. Im not saying that Rusty cant. It has been so long since he has been out of a Ford, that i dont know how he will do. Actually I dont really care how he does. Just thought i would throw this topic out to see what everyone thopught.

I wish they would have stayed with Ford. But I also think Newman will still drive the wheels of any car, even if its a dodge. I think Wallace will struggle and I think he won't be in the top 10 in points at the end.

Changing to a Dodge won't make any difference to Rusty. He's at the sme point that DW was a couple of years before he retired. It doesn't matter what he drives. -_-

I don't think it will matter that much. And I would expect Rusty to be in the top 10, probably 7th or 8th as he has in the past. But... It's racing, anything can happen.

it looks like they've been having problems with them lately.

With respect Tiny:DW couldnt even spell 'compete' for ten years before he retired!

And Rusty may be on the downhill side of his career but I expect he still has a win or two up his sleeve.

And yes,to get on the topic, the switch will hurt #2 and #12,imo.

If Daytona is any indication of the way Rusty will drive the rest of the season , i would say yeh he is going to have problems. I  don't think he will finish any higher than 12th give or take a few positions. Newman is too smart he will figure it out, probably win a few and finsih in the top 10 in points.

My opinion is that it will take the same thing it always takes to be successful and thats the team. Who ever does the best job as a group wins the championship, period, regardless of what type of car they are in. Thats always been the deal and today with the cars so similar there shouldn't be many doubters on that one.

With that in mind, what possible difference could a switch make. What difference did it make when Rusty switched from Pontiac to Ford? I didn't see much difference then and any difference now if there is one would be much less. They are dealing with a new car so to speak, all of the teams are, but I can't see how driving a Dodge verses a Ford will make any difference whatsoever, especially with a driver with Rusty's experience.

Nope, expect no difference at all. Welcome to the 2003 version of the new pointsracingmidpackcoastingcan'twinaraceownerdrivercrewchiefpilotIblewanothertire Rusty Wallace. I'm not expecting much, but the switch will have no effect on that.

I don't really know why they switched to Dodge. They must have thought it was a lot better than Ford, or Dodge must be giving them a lot more money. Either way, it will take some time to build some notes on these cars and run well.

There was no reason not to change really, the timing was perfect. The team would be working with a new car this year anyway, and now with the cars substantially all the same it makes no difference which manufacturer you go with.

Well, unless they offer you 20 million to switch, and thats what Penske collected on the deal, so that could make a difference. But understand who we are dealing with here, Penske doesn't make decisions that do not make sense and dollars too for that matter. They were already working on the Dodge motor as early as last summer and I'm guessing they were pleased with what they came up with. If he did not feel that they would be just as competitive as they were before he wouldn't have made the switch.

Also notice that by waiting until now to make a change to Dodge, they have allowed for a couple of years of working the bugs out by the other Dodge teams.

Any guesses on where Penske will be looking in a few years?
