Win on Sunday ..... Sell on Monday

This was posted on another board, and I was wondering what others thoughts were.

There used to be an old saying, "when you win on Sunday the phone will ring on Monday" What happened ,Soon GM and Ford stocks will be downgraded and are falling fast. Will they stay in NASCAR? Should they ?

These are my thoughts;

You know another old saying "Be careful what you wish for, You may get it" ?

IMHO I belive the manufacturers are at the root of all these common templates. It wasn't really all that long ago that the cars had to use factory sheetmetal for the bodies, not these completly hand built cars that don't even come close to looking like the factory cars.
All the manufacturers would whine and complain that the others had an advantage, and NASCAR would impliment an air dam or spoiler rule to try and help them and so it went for several years until we have this mess of cars not even looking like their street counter parts.
IMO, if 1 make is more aero than the other then the designers better get on the ball and design a production car that is better than their competitors.
The manufacturers themselves started this whirlpool that has sucked this sport into the cespool instead of doing their jobs back at the plants.

Think about this; They say that "just" the body on these Cup cars cost around $100,000 to hand build! How many cars do each team have in their stables? x $100,000. Why? Because the manufacturers don't want to run what they build. If you can buy a loaded Monte Carlo for $25,000, what would (should) just the body parts cost the teams? There should only be 1 body for each make, not a different configureation for each type of track. Your chassis might be different from speedway to road course and setups from track to track but it would be the same and fair for ALL even the low budget teams. This is all a way to help keep low budget teams from being competitive because they don't have the finances needed to really build competitive cars. Again IMO, ALL windtunnel testing should be banned except for manufacturers in designing the original cars. This is supposed to be a performance based business, ie; Best drivers, Best pit crews, Best manufacturers.

So in summation to the original question posted: The manufactures will not pull out of NASCAR because the do still reap great benefits from "Winning on Sunday". Why else would they still care or brag about which car won the most races and claimed the "Manufacturers" Championship. Which is totally false if you think about it as the manufacturers do NOT manufacture these cars.

Also, look at the fans on these forums, look how many relate to the manufacturer over driver or team, or quit rooting for a guy because he switched manufacturers. Kind of funny if you really think about it. LOL
