I'm a newbie to this forum, but I thought this might be a good place to ask this question so here goes:

Has anyone on here ever seen one of these? I've been looking for an old step van to take on as a project and stumbled on this thing last weekend sitting on the side of a state highway. It's titled as a 1982 Chevy. It has a Chevy 350 V-8 and a Penn body. It runs and drives, and the paint appears to be original. Any opinions as to whether or not it's collectible? I haven't been able to find any period photos of one of these things. Other than a wall mounted first aid kit, the interior is gutted bare aluminum. Thanks in advance for your help and commentary-

Really common in Canada back then. They were used for mail delivery by the post office. The new generation has aluminum bodies so they just drop the box and back a new truck under it.

I doubt it is collectable. It appears to be a box van set up for NASCAR support or someone's race weekend camper - probably both.

Interesting that it bears the Winston Racing Series logo in what could be the correct font et. al. Probably was a support vehicle at a NASCAR sanctioned local track. Not sure that it is collectable, but you could ask the Winston Cup Museum guys in Winston-Salem (they might know).

It would probably be most valuable if you spruced it back up (including the logo) and used it to run a small business at a local track. Sell souveniers or parts or food or something out of it.
