I was worried about Robby making the race with so many people entered...I guess I didn't need to do so...however, what happened with Leffler and Hamilton Jr.?

No speed........both teams definitely have problems. I'm wondering how long those guys will be driving ?? Both sponsors are high profile, I'm sure they're not happy about missing one of the biggest races of the year. More Busch experience would help both Hamolton and Leffler.

They both would have made in on speed if there were no provisionals allowed.
I'm wondering how long Jeff Green is going to have his ride, I think he could benefit from more Busch time.

NW, Cal Wells says that Hamilton Jr. is his man and he's solid. However, having said that, Wells is putting Ron Fellows into that car for the Sonoma race because he wants to make sure the car makes the race. They are 37th in points and only the top 35 make the field for sure.

As for Lefler, I can't say. There's been talk for several weeks about him in this car and what is in the works. Gibbs may give him a break for the rest of the year just to see how he works out. Time will tell on both of these two guys.

(32) I had heard that the 32 car was building all new cars for Hamilton Jr this year. These guys can run better than this..Hamilton is a good race car driver...its really time for a 2nd team, i think thats what's killing these guys.

(11) FexEx paid big bucks to go to JGR, JG may want to keep him in the car all season but its going to end up comming down to what FedEx has to say about it....the 18 and 20 are both championship cars, there no excuse for the 11 not making the race.

Ricky Craven was also completely sure that he was going to be the driver through 2005 or 2006, that is, until the 32 team released him pretty much unannounced. Apparently, at that team, loyalty means nothing. If you can't make a crap car run like a championship ride, then you're out.

the 11? I don't know. I'm not sure how much more busch experience either could get.

Isn't the #32 team still driving Pontiac? I believe GM stopped support a while back.

Naaaa, they're running Chevy....

FedEx, Interstate Batteries Team Up for Coca-Cola 600: Due to Joe Gibbs Racing’s #11 race car failing to qualify for Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Charlotte, officials from Joe Gibbs Racing, FedEx and Interstate Batteries agreed that FedEx would become the primary sponsor of the #18 Chevrolet for the Coca-Cola 600, replacing Interstate Batteries. Bobby Labonte will remain as the driver of the #18. Crew chief Steve Addington and the entire #18 crew will also retain their normal duties. The #18 Chevrolet was to have run a Madagascar paint scheme in the Coca-Cola 600. However, DreamWorks and Action Performance Co. have graciously agreed to postpone the Madagascar promotion until the June 12 Pocono 500 at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway. “We can’t thank Interstate Batteries and FedEx enough for enabling us to deal with this setback in the most positive manner possible,” said J.D. Gibbs, president of Joe Gibbs Racing. “We stress teamwork throughout Joe Gibbs Racing. To have Interstate Batteries, who has been with us since day one, and FedEx, our newest sponsor, and Bobby Labonte and the #18 crew work through this bit of adversity so seamlessly speaks volumes about the quality of our sponsors and the character of our team.”(Joe Gibbs Racing site)(5-27-2005)

Looks like FedEx was pretty upset about and advised JGR they were to find a way to get them in the race.....good thing Interstate Battieries and Dreamworks agreeded to it. I have seen sponsers switch to a car that doesnt have a sponser when their car doesnt make the race...but i cant think of a time when another sponser has agreed to remove their sponsership for another company...makes you wonder how much money if any was exchanged....im surprised.

I remember when Leffler was asked by the INCS guys while he was the hotseat guest a while back what the Fedex expected out of him in the first season. He said something to the effect "Everyone will be happy with the performance so much as we beat that other delivery company in the series"

I believe last year they did though. There was a team that continued to run Pontiac and GM didn't help them out.....had to be the 32 team.

I thought it was the 37 busch team for the first several races and then intermittently after that...?

i dont remember it being a pontiac i remember it being a chevy.... maybe it was a pontiac at the beginning and changed in the middle of the season to chevy? i dunno

The 32 was a Pontiac last year.

No it was a Chevy. Looking back at race event pics from Daytona 2004 shows it was a Monte Carlo.

I'm pretty sure it was a Pontiac.....but if you say Chevy, that's fine with me. Both are GM's.......not a nickel's worth of difference anyway. But, Cal Wells has not been competitive for a number of years and that is the problem with the 32 car. Ricky Craven wasted how many seasons with Cal? Now he's driving a truck. It's the owner...........not the drivers or cc's or anything else making the poor showing for the Tide Ride that Darrell Waltrip made so famous (and that, my friends, was very hard for me to say.........DW, ugh!!).
