RENO, Nev. - A woman has filed a lawsuit accusing Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of raping her last summer in his penthouse hotel room at a casino in Lake Tahoe during a celebrity golf tournament.

Roethlisberger’s lawyer adamantly denied the allegations Tuesday, and was quick to point out that the woman never went to the authorities.

“Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone. The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct,” David Cornwell said in a statement. “If an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben will be fully exonerated.”

I really hope this isn't true. He isn't in any danger by the polics, as no report was made at the time. That is allegedly because the hotel management covered up the incident. I don't know if he is guilty of anything or not, but simply the allegation is enough to tarnish his image and cost him millions in endorsements.

You know having the half dressed woman in the ads on that page with the teaser line of "Start you journey now, my Lord" is a little disturbing considering the topic of the story.

firefox plus adblock plus plugin should take care of that. if not noscript and rip (remove it permanently) definitely will. ads???

At first glance, this sounds like a money grab.

But the people doing these things need to get more creative. If someone were to sue Roethlisberger for rape (without filing criminal charges) it would be more damaging if the victim was a tranny, or maybe Filapino slave boy. Then he'd be more willing to pay them to just go away.

At least then we could have a good laugh out of it, and you'd see Ben's name in the tabloids more than in SI.

:D
