I wonder if racing this weekend will be affected by TS Bonnie and/or Hurricane Charley. Bonnie hasn't even made landfall yet but we in the Atlanta area have already had T-storms wild lots of rain, and there is a flood watch as well as a Tornado watch for eastern GA and a good part of SC.

I don't think they have them, and no windsheild wipers either.
Actually, for the road course, Goodyear makes what are best described as "wet tires." They can run witht hese tires on a wet road course, but they still can't run in a active hard rain.

And they don't run wipers because they can't keep 'em on the cars at the speeds they run.

Actually, Goodyear has already issued a public statement to the effect they would not be bringing any rain tires to Watkins Glenn this year. I did not see any reason for their decission in the release which I received, only that the tires would not be available to the teams this trip to The Glenn.

With that in mind, I doubt the teams would bother bringing cars set up with wipers, defroster fans and taillights as they won't have the rain tires to run on anyhow.

And yes Tony, they did have wipers set up on the cars, they use airfoils on the arms to keep the wiper blade on the windshield.
The proto-type sports cars that run LeMans, Daytona, Sebring and other tracks run lots faster (over 200 mph at LeMans) than the Cup cars at Watkins Glenn and have no trouble keeping the wiper blades in touch with the windshield.
Heck, my old BMW's came from the factory with those airfoils on the wiper arm to keep the blades on the glass at high speed and they do their job very well.
