Alright! After many years away from NASCAR (way back...Davey Allison, Alan Kulwicki, Ernie Irvan, et al) and having last July's Coke Zero 400 experience still fresh in our memories, we went all in for Homestead's Season Finale! Got our weekend package as well as pre-race pit passes. I've been living in Miami for 8 years, watching the rigs come down the Turnpike from our own backyard and never went to the race, we are rediscovering our affection for the sport as well as the excitement. Also just renewed for the 2017 Coke Zero 400, can't wait to get back there (well, actually I visit Daytona Beach a few times during the year during long/holiday weekends...a short getaway, but racing is a whole different experience)... See you there! :)

Just out of curiosity, anything specific that got you to come back to NASCAR?

Well, my youngest son, my brother and a lifetime friend made me do it, they are hardcore NASCAR fans... :)

I lost my way after getting married and having kids, turns out that on a long weekend we drove up to Daytona Beach Shores and had the pleasure of doing the track VIP tour, was very impressed, so out of curiosity we arranged to do the Coke Zero 400 and from there I was back into it again...so much so that we play XBOX (Forza MotorSports 6 Nascar Expansion pack) just about everyday, online multiplayer (just ordered Nascar Heat Evolution)... :)

Hopefully this year's Chase will be awesome!

Nice. Welcome back. I think the video game aspect as a pathway to younger fans may be lost on people. I first discovered NASCAR from playing the old NASCAR Racing game on the PC. Glad to have a company that actually cares about racing making the games again.

Yes, totally agree, we have so much fun playing racing video games, I actually got us a fully loaded steering wheel+pedals setup. But one thing is watching in TV and another seeing it live, awesome experience, the speed, sounds, atmosphere...it's great! :)

I try to talk myself out of the Coke Zero every year cause I'm tired of falling victim to the rain-fest that it has become whether it be on practice day or race day. I'm just glutton for punishment I guess because there I am every July still.
:owquitit:

It's hard to beat Daytona under the lights...especially in that new facility.

Glad your back, the Coke 400 this year was great, looks like three of us here were there anyway.

Ohh yes, I concur, rain threatened to make a mess out of it, but we enjoyed it a lot, and at night, DIS is awesome, first time ever, craving for more... :)

You could not have had better weather from the green flag and the entire race to fireworks, than we had that night, perfect.

Yes, it turned out perfect! I was at the lower start finish (section 148, row 6) and it was awesome to feel the cars go by at those speeds, followed by a silence, then the wind with rubber and some exhaust smell... :)

You've made some new friends here too Javier. Glad to have you with us

Thanks All, yes, It's been a long time since I was so excited about NASCAR! Last weekend's race was great, specially at the end, I wanted to see #24 win to secure a spot in the Chase, but equally happy for K. Larson, those 2 are the future of the sport I guess. Hoping that the rest of the schedule sees no weather-related issues, I hate it when I have to wait for the next day... :-(

Javier, welcome back to Nascar, and welcome to Racing-Forums. Hope you stick around and argue with the rest of us!

I agree that gaming seems to be important to young people developing into fans. Yesterday someone referred me to this blog entry by Brad Keselowski about his youth and his involvement with the new Nascar game, just FYI. [Disclaimer: electronic games didn't exist when I was a kid, but I still recall a slot car game I had. The D-type Jaguar was blue and the Ferrari Testa Rossa was red.]
