As many know and Paul can attest, I am big fan of Michael Waltrip. I've followed him throughout most of his career, watching him race since his Pennzoil racing days.

There have been many rough times in his career. Many people have doubted Michael's ability, and even more thought that he didn't belong in the sport. Michael didn't give up, and I refused to give up on Michael.

For the longest time, many looked down at Michael for being in 400 races and never being able to get that first win. What many of them didn't really consider was the type of equipment he had raced up until he joined DEI.

Finally the day did come where he was in a good enough car to show his talents, and on that same day, the man who believed in him most, died right behind him. Michael never really got to celebrate that win like he was supposed to.

His next win came after a tough season but at a track he has become known for dominating at. Many people were upset with how the race ended at Daytona in July, and again, Michael didn't really get to celebrate his win like he should have.

Today it was rain that helped Michael get into victory lane, but there should be little doubt that he had the car to beat. The car that belonged in victory lane got there, although everyone would have liked to see it go to the end. The fact is Michael has won the Daytona 500 again, and you can be certain who he has in his mind and in his heart today. The guy who believed in him, who gave him this chance, Dale Earnhardt.

Some critisize Michael for only being able to win at one track. Well, if you ask me, if you have to be good somewhere, Daytona is the place to do it. Few drivers out there can say they are two-time Daytona 500 winners.

I've never given up on Michael, and I am proud to see him in victory lane again this year. I knew he had the car and the heart to do it, but with the way his luck goes, I didn't want to get my hopes up. I'm glad he won today, and I really think he's going to be a car to beat all season, not just at Daytona.

Which leads me to my conclusion,

WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO MICHAEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with ya brother....just be prepared to catch some flack from some of the people here...

"NASCAR stopped the race because Waltrip was leading..."

"NASCAR stopped the race because DEI was winning...."

"Jr won because...oh, wait a minute....."

;)

In all honesty, it didn't bother me too much to see Simmons win. I had him on my fantasy team. :D

Also had Ward though

Hate it for the 85% of teams who picked Junior.

Here's another DEI fan who is glad that DEI swept the Daytona week races!! I'll take the slack........broad shoulders ya know!! :p

now he just needs to win at another track, but not to bad have 3 career wins, all at daytona, i would take that

:bounce: :bounce: :) Mikey is a 2 time Daytona 500 champion. Enough said. Way to go Mikey.

If I could choose only one track to win at it would sure be Daytona, that paycheck is awesome and the stat will keep him away from Sponsorship and reputation woes for a long long time!

Way to go Mikey! He will never have to deal with "how come ya cant win at Daytona" crap that Rusty and Terry have to deal with every year!

Though I don't like him,the great thing about this sport is that anybody can like anybody.
