Do any of you know of any legitimate work from home opportunities? I see things all the time, but they are mostly scams of one type or another, pyramind schemes (excuse me, multi-level marketing) and the like. I have a lot of sales experience, mostly in the auto parts and service field, but certainly not limited to it.

As some of you know, I have a lot of health issues. Most of them are related to my back and neck, but I also have stomach issues that can make working in a traditional work environment difficult. I've been repeatedly denied for disability and can no longer afford to not bring any income into the home. I will work outside the home soon, probably at AutoZone where I worked for 6 years back in the 90's very soon, but I'm not sure how long I can do that physically.

If any of you know of anything I should look into, please let me know ASAP. Thanks!

I looked and looked and found nothing but scams. I don't know if there's any legit deals out there. But I do know what you're going through as I've BTDT. Good Luck

I know that alot of hotel reservation jobs and some customer service do work from home.
You provide a separate room with a lockable door, they provide the pc and phone set up
I know we have a few of these in Canada but bet its in the US too.
Good luck

There are several people who develop and maintain web sites from home. Usually they're good at tech but not so good at sales, so with your sales background you might hook up with one (or more) web designers and both of you might excel. Be the voice on the phone for their business, so they can focus on the nuts and bolts. You might leverage your auto parts experience to focus on automotive sites.

If circumstances don't allow you to work within a traditional box, best to invent new circumstances!

I did that at one point. The last job I had, a local transmission shop with three locations that was building a fourth wanted to hire me to manage the new shop he was opening and do some soliciting for new business for the new shop before it opened. It turned out that my back prevented me from doing some of what was required of a store manager and his insurance wasn't too happy about him hiring me either. So, I started my own business, Essential Marketing Services, and worked for them as an independent contractor and set about building up business for all of his shops including the new one. I then moved on to working for 1-800-Radiator as well as a few other companies until my other health issues made even that too difficult to do on any regular basis at the time.

I have a job interview with a pretty good sized company that has a local office in my area. They do phone support/call center type stuff that people do from their homes after a certain amount of training. It pays pretty well also from what I've learned from other people. It sounds like the perfect opportunity. I have an interview with them Tuesday morning. I'm pretty pumped.

Hope this went well for you. Sounds pretty similar to what my aunt does. She's had that job for at LEAST eight years that I can recall. It's hard to find the good work-from-home gigs amidst all the scams, but they are out there.

Well, as it turns out, I was actually interviewing for a job at their call center where I would be wearing a shirt and tie and calling Verizon and Rogers customers and trying to renew them and so forth. I told the woman I spoke to there that I had heard about a work from home program they had and she said she didn't handle that but she emailed the woman down south somewhere who handles that. A few minutes later the woman responded that yes, she was looking for people in this area for that program and that I should call a number and schedule a phone interview with her. So that's where I'm at.

Thank you all for your interest in my situation!

Well, I had my phone interview for the work from home job with them and I think it went pretty well. I know the biggest thing I have working against me is that I haven't worked in about six and a half years due to my health. Of course, that is the biggest reason why I was interested in the work from home opportunity. After she explained what the job entails, I am even more excited about it. I'd be making calls for non-profit organizations and in those organizations down times, such as now, I'd be making calls for conservative organizations like the National Rifle Association. She asked me if that would be a problem. I told her that as a former member of the NRA, it obviously would not be a problem. The only down side is that it pays pretty poorly, although much of that is offset by the savings of working from home. What I could save on gas at nearly $4 a gallon, additional car maintenance and repairs, extra food costs and other issues is pretty significant. She said it takes about 7-10 days to get background checks and so forth done and I should hear from her then. We'll see how it goes. In the mean time I'm continuing to apply at other places that would pay more, partially in case I don't get the work at home gig and partially because if it pays enough more it might be worth it to work outside the home anyway. We will just see how it all shakes out.

If they are letting you do the background checks thats a good thing...costs the company money to do those checks so they (in my experience) only have you do those if they are reasonably sure they will hire you. Good luck...keep us informed.

Thanks, I sure hope so. Yeah, I will keep you informed. It'd be an awesome birthday present for my wife if they called me today, but they said 7-10 days so I'm not holding my breath. Still, it would be nice. ;)
