I’m hearing some of the media say that Dale Senior fans are angry that Junior is leaving the company his father started and I don’t understand it.

I have only been a NASCAR fan for two years so I wasn’t a Dale Senior fan. But six years after his death he is still a presence in the sport so I know a little about him. So let me ask a question;

Would Dale Senior work under the conditions that exist at DEI today? I don’t mean if he were still alive would things be different, they certainly would. I mean put him in Dale Junior shoes.

I believe the answer is no. So again, I don’t understand why any Dale Senior fan would be surprised or angry that Junior made the decision to leave.

Dale didn't work for DEI when he was alive. So no I don't think he would work for DEI today. He appeared to want the division between being a driver and being an owner.

But it was his plan to retire and hand the reigns of his Chevy to Kevin Harvick. I think if Dale were alive, the conditions would be different at DEI.

Before Earnhardt's accident, Harvick was not seen as his replacement...but as a 3rd driver for DEI in the 30 AOL car. Earnhardt's death changed all of that.
