A Cadillac in NASCAR? That might be cool, even if it's just another sticker queen.

Better put some tape on those grille openings.....

they ran them in SCCA for awhile, I don't beleive NASCAR is the market Cadillac is looking at. Chevrolet is GM's Perfomance division Cadillac is for the wine and cheese crowd.

Cadillac isn't known for compacts either, but that's what the ATS is. Cadillac has been in the high performance luxury car market for years. Now they want to break into the high performance compact sedan market. If a compact makes sense for Cadillac, why wouldn't NASCAR?

Because the target buyer is not a NASCAR watcher. Same reason BMW, AUDI, BENZ, VW, VOLVO isn't in NASCAR. I could see HYUNDAI or HONDA in NASCAR before GM puts Caddy in the series.

I think that the biggest reason those other manufactrers are not in NA$$CAR is because of the antiquated technology required to run in NA$$CAR. There are only two or three current V8 pushrod engines available - and none of them are built by a European car builder. And who among them uses a 4-speed trans, solid rear-end housing and out-dated EFI systems?

I was surprised when Toyota invested the money to enter the sport, when none of their vehicles use an engine/drive train that resembles a NA$$CAR drive train...

robbybee has a point, but even GM and Ford make their engines special for nascar. But it's about getting your name out there, just like every other racing series.

Maybe someone should check to see how many BMW, AUDI, BENZ, VW, VOLVO vehicles are in the track parking lot.

To the casual fan, the car racing looks kinda like the car they buy. Not many fans are all about the engineering these days.

Besides Toyota sells lots of cars to a lot of different demographics. Unlike BMW, VOLVO etc.

When they are off the lease, everyone drives them. Besides, my question was about Cadillac, who have decided to sell a cheaper competitor to the C and 3 classes.

Careful. Go drive a CTS-V and then tell me the BMW M3 has it all.

Two different classes. The BMN 3 series or Benz C series can't compete with the CTS-V. The ATS is a whole different animal. Top line is 312 horse 6 cylinder.

There will be an ATS-V in the future. Guaranteed. And the CTS-V is about the size of a BMW 3 isn't it?

The CTS is 4250 pounds. That a lot of steel. Guess what the BMW M3 is?

The CTS V has a vette's heart in it. And it handles great, so they say. And it looks like the pontiac aztec designer got a different job after that dud tanked with the burial of Pontiac. Anyhow, I would take a CTS V for the same ammount of money as a smaller M3 costs. More room for the wife's stuff. With the M3 it might get a little cramped on my way to Martinsville.

Make fun if you will, but have you watched the growth of Hyundai? Have you seen their new commercial? Seems that muscle cars are making a comeback everywhere in the world now. I think that NASCAR would welcome any manufacturer who would like to join in as long as they cow tow to the rules.
