Would You Go to Austin to See A Great Big Willie?

This is one you'll have to read to believe.

One City Councilman wants a huge Willie in Austin. In part the story goes:
"It would have to be the biggest Willie in the world, I'll bet," said Max, who served on the City Council from 1987 through 1996, and was known as both a South Austin advocate and a former street flower salesman. "I don't know of any others."

That would be one big honkin' Willie, all right — at nearly twice the height of the Colossus of Rhodes, and about three times taller than the 67-foot Sam Houston statue south of Huntsville. In fact, I can't think of a single statue of anybody as tall as this one proposed by Max. This is so much bigger than the world's largest jackrabbit in Odessa that it's not even worth mentioning.

sounds to me like he's working in the herbal industry now and has sampled too many of his products.

Just for reference, Mr. Nofsinger, the Statue of Liberty, with pedestal, is 305 feet. There's one bigger than your proposed Willie.

As far as the Jackrabbit being a drawing card to Odessa, TX, I was in Odessa once and it was closed.

I stay away from Austin --- traffic is a nightmare at best.
And I sure wouldn't make a trip just to see a big willie.

And to tell the truth, I find the statue of a mule in Muleshoe much more interesting. ROTFL
