Just curious to see who is a race fan and who is a NASCAR fan.

I'm not voting just yet. I'm probably more of a NASCAR fan than just a race fan. I occassionally watch other types of racing but find it hard to get all that interested in.......most likely because I don't really know any of the teams and drivers. I sort of watch NASCAR exclusively...........but I very seldom (if ever) find a race that is what I would consider "boring". But, then I have almost the whole field to root for! :D I have a favorite, then I have favorites, then I have the interesting, and finally I have the ones that I can bitch and complain about.............never a dull moment during a NASCAR race in DEW's house!! :D

Little bit of both. I'd watch my favorite driver in a wheelchair race, and knowing Schrader, in 40 years, thats what he'll be doing.

Racing's racing. (I only usually get to watch NASCAR though. :( ) It's all good, but it's even better when your drivers are the ones racing the real races, not what we have been seeing lately.

But as turtle said, I'll be watching my drivers for forever and maybe even longer. :)

So which are the real races?
I think I meant the ones where they really race.... You know, I don't really remember what I was thinking... ... But it was somewhere along the lines of racing where you raced just because you liked to, not all this bull about making everything the same for everyone and all that jazz.. You know what I mean?

I know what you mean............seriously, I do. But, comes a time when you have to either continue with something, along with all the changes, or leave. Parity.............I believe that is what you are talking about. Parity is something fans screamed for not too many years ago..........we got it. Now no one seems to like it. Side by side racing..........we all long for it. So we get tracks that traditionally provide that (you know, the hated "cookie cutters")..........everyone hates them. Make racing safer for the drivers..........we get a rule that does just that. Now that same rule shows problems to impliment.........and we hate NASCAR for it. We love close competition all over the track...........yet we prefer a strung out road course race to a close Talladega race. I think we are a fickle group of fans. :D

Not me! I love Dega.

i'm not a fan of those choices. i like watching many of the nascare drivers because they are among the best in the world, not because they are nascare stars.

i'd rather watch true competition among the world's best, even if it's a race that some would consider to be boring than a bunch of squirrels wrecking into each other for a couple hours.

i voted for the exciting race...because racing is exciting when it represents true competition...a boring nascare race could mean a boring cup race, a boring busch race, a boring truck race, a boring elite race, or a boring race at a short track.

if it came down to watching tony stewart kicking butt at mesa marin or a bunch of irl drivers i barely know racing at, well anywhere, i'd have to go with the irl.

Then there are those of us who know exactly what we like, and see it disappearing from the schedule.

I watch two kinds of racing, period. For the time being, I watch most of the Cup races. I also love dirt track racing. I see better racing on the local dirt track than I do 35 out of 36 Cup races. I don't watch F1, Indy, trucks, Busch series, power boats, pogo sticks, drag races, rally, or any other type racing. I don't care for it. Sue me.

I 2nd that!

But im not lucky as you are to be like a hop, skip and a jump from the track.

I voted an exciting race. I watch IRL, I go to the local short track, I watch motorcycle races, About the only racing I don't watch is Formula Schumacker...............................uh, I mean Formula 1.

I voted a NASCAR fan, could actually be a Nextel Cup fan vote,as it's the only racing that I pay attention to on a regular basis.I did catch a few Busch races late last year when Brian Vickers was battling a hotly contested Busch Championship, was glad to see Brian win the Cupmalso first Busch Championship for HMS,but haven't tuned into a Busch race since, although I understand that Kyle Busch is also doing fine in that #5 Lowe's Busch team as well :D
If I really tried,I think I could get into those Corvette 24 hour deals, but I can never seem to find them on the TV schedule. ^_^

I went with exciting, But I'll watch rather its boring or exciting.

De, Parity works pretty well for NASCAR, but it would kill the local tracks. Also, parity on the short tracks kinda sucks. It just makes it to hard to pass.

EMP, I would never stay home to watch NASCAR when I could be watching the local boys tear it up on the dirt track.

Definitely any exciting race over a boring Nascar race. Im more of a race fan than a Nascar fan.

1) I'd rather be racing myself
2)I would have answered "both" if the poll had that option. If another race is on TV at the same time as NASCAR, I would record it and watch it after the NASCAR race.

Boring=all (one) ball sports events (football, basketball, golf, baseball, etc.). I've never seen a boring race.

Funny,I've never seen a boring NFL game, rather watch an NFL game than a race if I had to choose, probably would record the other though. :D

i like any racin,
watching GP motorcycle racin is the best, saw the GP races on speed tuesday there were at least 5 lead changes on the last lap and you could have thrown a blanket over the top 7 bikes.

Cobra, I assumed everyone here likes NASCAR to a certian degree, I just wanted to see who just watched NASCAR and who enjoyed othe forms of auto racing.

24thunder, I do not know if I would record one or the other, unless I was not home, but I would wear out the remote going back and forth. Then I would complain about the commercials being on at the same time.

I like racing , bottom line any kind of racing goes. The best though i think is the local short track on a saturday night, with all the people sitting around me cheering for their Dads or brothers or other family members out there on the track. Talking to a stranger next to me about racing in the 60's and 70s , comparing notes on set ups and what we used to do ....now to me that is racing. Sometimes Nascar Cup can be tedious at times, but i watch it because it is in my blood and always will be.

Same here Kat. Last off season I even threatened to paint and number tumbleweed blowing around. Now that's good racing, no fixes, no favorites and bumping is racing. LOL :XXROFL: :XXROFL:
