My friend and I were just talking about this today. I think it would go pretty well if he he became president and CEO

Only way that'll happen if Gordon kills the entire France family. NASCAR is, and always will be a privately held company.

The France Family are Royalty in the NASCAR world and this is their kingdom. Everyone else just plays in it.

I wouldn't go so far and say always.

They are not immune and can fall just as any high profile millionaire can. Specially since this sport is supported by sponsors. This day in age, even they cant foot the bills themselves.

But they're not high profile millionaires. They're multi-billionaires, and while teams are getting financially squeezed, the Frances still profit.

Great? Yes. Gonna happen? Never.

Besides, I'd prefer to see a driver with a more diverse background, including some business experience. Stewart, Childress, or even Mikey. If you wanna talk owners, Penske or Ganassi. I think the experience in other forms would be helpful.

When did this happen and who is Michael Strahan?
A former New York Giant. Apparently in 2012 if you go by Wikipedia:

On October 1, 2010, Strahan co-hosted Live! with Regis and Kelly with Kelly Ripa for the first time when Regis Philbin was absent for that show.[citation needed] Regis left in November 2011, leaving an empty spot. After twenty guest appearances over two years, Strahan was selected as Kelly Ripa's new co-host on September 4, 2012, marking his first official day on the rechristened syndicated talk show, Live! with Kelly and Michael. Ratings instantly surged, impressively generating year-over-year time slot gains across all key demographics, towering over its nearest competition, the fourth hour of NBC's Today Show, by 87 percent,[21]

I think @ted@economy forgot to turn his clock ahead. :D

As an interesting side effect, I think MIchael's pregame commentary on Sundays has improved immensely since he started his weekday job.

Too late. Michael Strahan already did. Maybe Jeff can get on the View, or maybe the Talk.
That was the slickest snide comment about a driver I've seen in a long time. Slipped right over some heads.

I actually like Brian Fr-- I mean, it would be interesting.

At least Gordon would probably scrap the chase. No driver has been more screwed by it than he has.

Not to be that guy, but can Jeff even run a multi-billion dollar business? I'd put NASCAR more in the hands of the Earnhardt family (minus Teresa) than Jeff Gordon. Or at least Rick Hendrick.

He's on record countless times stating that while the old format is more suitable to his style he likes The Chase.

And look how well DEI is doing... .oh.. wait.
Yeah, I'm guessing you'll kinda have that losing the driving force behind the organization. When DE was lost in the fourth turn @ Daytona on the last lap the company lost its direction. Personally, I don't think there's any shame in that. That was too tough of a blow for them to recover from as much as they tried.

Yeah.. shame Teresa chased Junior away... well .. shame for DEI. I think Junior's actually much better off. Had his dad lived, it would have been a much different story.
