Wow Mikey, your team really eff'ed up.

Even if he does he is 100 points in the hole. He could win the thing and still need to qualify on time next week at California which will be a very big hurdle for a start up team. As opposed to many of you I like Michael Waltrip. I liked him before he brought DJ into his organization. I like D.W. too. Maybe I am of the minority here but I just cannot see Michael authorizing such a blatant attempt at circumventing the rules. Let alone if this was an established team Mikey is stepping foot into the ring with an unproven foreign manufacturer that is looking for credibility and support from the fans. Also whatever the substance was which had the consistency of Vaseline really did not help him much since they did allow him to qualify with it. I could understand if someone tried this at a track where you had to get in on speed. This was Daytona qualifying. You could be dead last and still get into the qualifying race. It makes no sense to try something so obvious. Sure other teams get caught such as the other teams this year. It was said that the holes found on Kenseth's car are normal however the tape that was to cover the hole fell off. The seriousness of this offense pails in comparison to what the #55 was found to have. The last time someone tried to "mess" with the fuel of a race car was back in 2000 with Jeremy Mayfield as they had stated in the press conference. Given all the weight on Mikey's shoulders and the fact that crew chiefs know inspectors feel around inside the intake before putting the restrictor plate in place.

Maybe some of you watched the ESPN documentary that followed around MWR while they built the team and cars. All the effort, all the hard work, all the hard working hours to get everything in place in order to bring Toyota and MWR into NASCAR. Watching a listening to Buffy Waltrip comment on just how much was riding on this deal. You think Buffy would even let Mikey for a moment allow this to happen? He had no idea. One of his new employees that he trusted to make the right decision made a wrong one. Now he is paying the price for believing in those that work for him. Betcha he did not get an ounce of sleep last night. He's gotta jump in an unproven car and race his way into the Daytona 500. He's probably throwing up in the toilet right now. He's embarrassed, He's let down, He is mad. Was it worth it? Nope. I think Mikey is smarter then that. He would have never allowed this to happen.

Toyota issues warning to teams: Robin Pemberton, NASCAR's vice president for competition, was emphatic this [the #55 infraction and penalty] was a team issue and not a Toyota issue. While embarrassed over the incident, Toyota officials insisted they would maintain a relationship with MWR. "This is not the way you want to enter NASCAR's Nextel Cup Series by any means," said Jim Aust, the president and CEO of Toyota Racing Development. "For this to happen to him is extremely disappointing and extremely disappointing to Toyota. ... He has certainly apologized to just about anybody that would be associated with his organization. He's beside himself with what's happened." Toyota isn't resting on an [Waltrip] apology. Company officials are expected to send a letter out to all Toyota teams next week stating Waltrip's organization has used two of the company's three strikes. The next team that crosses the line will face the loss of the manufacturer's support. Lee White, the senior vice president for TRD, said TRD worked with NASCAR throughout the process. "I can honestly tell you from an ethics standpoint and integrity, along with character and honesty, those things are paramount in our company," he said. "We hold ourselves to a high standard and we hold our teams to high standards. We hope we've picked the right ones."(ESPN.com)
AND: Jim Aust, vice president or Toyota Racing Development, was asked if this was his worst nightmare. "I would say that's pretty close to accurate," Aust said. "This is a week we had looked forward to for many years. To begin this way certainly takes some of the limelight and happiness out of it." It also doesn't help the Toyota guys win over some NASCAR followers who didn't want them here in the first place. That marketing campaign just got a lot tougher.(ESPN.com)(2-14-2007)

Can anybody tell me what Mikey's second strike was?? This makes it sound like he did two things Toyota is not happy about.

1) He cheated
2) He got caught

Could be Toyota is mad enough and considers this serious enough that this counts as 2 strikes. He's lucky, they could've counted it like a tipped ball that bounced and hit the batter.

THIS IS FORUM IS A JOKE BYE LOSERS!!!!

Sorry RobbyGFan, but this is a good forum. And I, like you, feel there are people here with an attitude (myself included) but few rarely respond with the venom you used on this thread.
No matter who pushed your buttons or said something you felt was antagonistic, the simple fact of the matter is, in the past, you have performed the same way yet now are condemning others for doing.

It is called ribbing, fun, tantalizing treatment, "my driver is better than your driver", pulling your chain, or whatever description you chose, but it all amounts to giving and taking. Obviously not a strong suit for some who are incapable of the art of give and take.

Robby Gordon is the butt of many jokes and ill-advised comments but many times Robby sets himself up for these comments. That is a negative and makes being one of his fans a hard task before the green flag falls.

On the plus side, Robby Gordon is a an extremely competitive person in anything he does or drives, a proven winner, and if or when he ever gets a handle on this series and things begin to go his way, there will be many RGordon detractors disappointed with his success. Eating crow is tough when improperly prepared and many RGordon detractors are ill prepared to eat crow.

Until then, the hard core RGordon fans will endure the negativity, adversity, disappointment, frustrations, insulting comments and cat calls.

The remaining RGordon fans will end up calling everyone else, a loser.
So..............which type of fan are you ?? :)

Well said Whizzz.
Betsy;)

Besides everyone has to remember that Betsy's own antagonistic behavior is not against Robby Gordon the driver but Robby Gordon the man.
So Betsy did you ever get that child support money Robby owes you? Or, is he still on the lam from CPS?

IS that a typo?? I had heard nothing about any post qualifying.. In any event if you do the crime...be prepared to do the time..
Doesn't indefinitely mean "see ya, You aren't welcome back here."
I am on pins and needles to know what the end result will be.
Betsy;)

Betsy, they found the substance coming through the intake before and after qualifying on Sunday. That's why the hammer came down.

Since the NASCAR boys pinched Mikey's intake manifold do you think he called the local NAPA store to see if they had a manifold for a carbureted 8 cyl. Toyota?

Bobby, they pinched the entire car!

Whisser, perfectly said and thank you! You really need to take that "job" I suggested! :)
