A 27 year old fisherman in Texas had a pretty amazing day recently. He caught what was (at the time) a personal record for him 56lb blue catfish. He was pretty excited. But about 20 minutes later his other pole hooked something a little bigger.
After about a 20 minute struggle with his newest catch he pulled in a monster blue catfish. He tried to weigh it, but the only scale they had on hand was a 50lb scale. It was obviously much bigger than 50lb so they called a friend who hurried over with a 100lb scale. It bottomed out the 100lb scale before they got the whole fish off the ground. They finally got it to a tackel shop where it was discovered he had hooked a Texas state record 121lb 8oz blue catfish!
The game warden asked his what he planned to do with it. He said he planned to let it go. The game warden asked if he would consider donating it to a state run hatchery. He did and it is now a prime attraction for visitors.
