Goodyear Racing Notes
World Wide Technology Raceway
The Goodyear Racing Eagle tire setup that awaits NASCAR Cup Series teams at World Wide Technology Raceway (WWTR) this weekend is new to the Illinois track but already familiar to teams, having debuted at Iowa Speedway a month ago.
These new left and right side tires were initially developed with Iowa’s fast cornering speeds in mind and are also the product of a June tire test at WWTR, where drivers Erik Jones, Brad Keselowski, and Kyle Larson tested them.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series visits WWTR for the first time in 15 years, giving many drivers a new challenge. However, this Goodyear tire setup was used by Xfinity Series teams at Phoenix Raceway in March. It’s also the same setup Goodyear brought to WWTR last year for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
“Despite being 1.25 miles in length, we treat World Wide Technology Raceway more like an intermediate track,” said Rick Heinrich, Goodyear NASCAR product manager. “The Goodyear Racing Eagle tires we have chosen for the NASCAR Cup Series this weekend have already been tested here, and raced at Iowa Speedway.”
