Xfinity RACE thread — Watkins Glen

Probably not season ending, but championship ending? Recovery time is roughly two months according to Dr. Google. Surely they wouldn’t put him in the car early and risk further injury.
My gut feeling is that he's done for the season. Why rush him back? A broken collar bone is pretty serious AFAIK.

True, especially if he wont be back in time to race for a championship.

He’ll definitely win a title, two or three in his time, so it’s not like those will be his only opportunity.

Whew, that young man dodged a bullet with just a broken collar bone.
Very glad it was not more serious. He has a lot more championship
opportunities ahead of him. Who knows, maybe he can get one of
those Kyle Busch waiver things and still have a shot at it this year if
he heals and gets cleared in time. Still, just very thankful.

First of all, thankful it wasn't a head injury.

It'd probably be well-advised to sit out at least the last three races of the regular season, especially Daytona.

Will he do it? No clue, Earnhardt was back in the car a week after his 1996 Talladega crash.

I notice the car has been removed from the lineup for the Cup race today.

Didn't think they would find another driver on such short notice. But like other say bones heal, head injuries are much more serious.

Left for chicken immediately after the checkers. Always wondered if that would happen to Edwards. Hope he's okay.

I assume Allgaier will drive tomorrow.
I always wanted Edwards to quit doing those back flips.
Yep, same. I got nervous almost every time ol' Cuzzin Carl did those backflips.

Really glad to hear that Connor got away with a broken collarbone and not an even worse injury. Pretty scary moment, to say the least. Complete freak accident.

Dale Jarrett was just saying Dale Earnhardt drove with a broken collarbone once and said it was painful. I bet!

As a side, they just showed Connor at the track with his arm in a sling and he looked quite happy. 👍

I don't know if y'all ever broke bones, I've broke a few, including my neck. Prolly a good thing he hit his gourd a little. You get immediate sense of pressure and inflammation, cool sweat, heightened awareness.
Immobility is what heals collar bones; time.

Broke my wrist as a kid from falling out of a tree in SoCal. The only thing I remember is going to Redondo Beach and getting sand in my above the elbow cast and that was agony. So much so they had to replace it.

Connor just referenced this in his interview on USA during the Cup race. SVG came back from a collarbone injury suffered in a mountain biking crash to sweep the race weekend at Sandown two weeks later. The team used a lengthened and lowered steering column to help him limit movement in his steering inputs.

The good thing about the playoff is that JRM can afford to keep Zilisch out of the car for the next month if necessary, of course.
