I am embarrassed by this, I made a very careless mistake, something that I know better, what did I do? , I touched my lawn mowers blade while it was moving , it could of been worse, I got lucky, the initial specialist visit is I my fingers should heal up. middle finger was just a laceration, the ringer is what they call a open fracture aka its broke.

Ouch, I am sorry but as you already said I am glad that it is not worse.
Dont let it get you down, whats done is done.

Holy ****, wow, that is lucky that it wasn't worse. I'm glad you'll be able to heal fairly well. Although for the future, I'd make up some badass story as to why you lost the tip of your fingers, say you were saving someone from being mugged.

Oh man !!! DO NOT DO THAT AGAIN

Woodworking forum I frequent no longer allows posting photo's of ''accidents''. Table saws lead the list, band saws like to eat off thumbs followed by joiners. Human flesh doesn't stand a chance against spinning steel, as you well know. Heal quick and as my Dad used to say ''Don't do that again....''

I'm still trying to figure out why you had your hand near a moving mower blade.

Sorry for the long time to reply , so was having issues with the carb, was trying to get it running, spaying carb cleaner into while it was running, lifted the side up so the fluid wouldnt run back out, the first time went fine, it was second time that didnt, yeah I was idiot.

Oh no, flesh and bone does not stand a chance to stand spinning steel, thank you and sorry for the delay in replying

Note to jws ---- Do NOT touch moving mower blades!
Now, you'll have to come up with 100 stories as to how it happened --- anything but the truth. LOL
I am almost regret not having a cooler story as to what happen instead of actually being stupid and doing what I did

Sorry for the delay in replying to you, yes, I am very thankful that it was not as worse as it could it be, and there those times that I think about it and become even more thankful. I wish I would of come up with a bad ass story.

I was able to move past letting it get me down , now I can joke around about it, the wife has a nickname for them , "the nubs" , I call them the twins.

Quick update, healing is slow going, I am able to do a lot more then I was when I made this thread, I have still have to keep wrapped up, for most of the day which is really starting to get old, it feels so good to have them unwrapped. the pain is pretty much gone, there is some mild pain but its really nothing. I didnt even bothering to finish my 2nd refill of the good pain meds.

They still look pretty bad, its such a huge pain in the ass washing that hand, still not allowed to do that yet( no soap) so I use an old toothbursh and scrub the hand, the stitches are still in them too.

I hope you all understand why it took me a bit to come to this thread, I was still feeling pretty ****** stupid so I wanted to avoid talking about it.

I’ve had some pretty bad finger injuries. Prolly doing things I shouldn’t have been doing. I still have nerve damage in one index finger and some misshapen fingernails.
You’re lucky to have all of your digits.
Most of my finger injuries were a result of negligent complacency.
I’m glad you’re doing better.

Yeah, that was it, complacency, it will get you every time .

I worked for a lawn mower manufacturer in the '90s, pre-Internet. The Legal department used to post worse photos than these from product liability law suits. The most asinine one was the two guys who took the handle off, welded two short handles on either side of of the deck, then held the assembly in the air as some kind of hedge trimmer on steroids. Then one of them slipped ...

Now I work for a company that makes rail and mass transit safety systems, include the signals and barrier arms for railroad crossings. Guess what kind of photos we swap?

Years ago I had a neighbor that ran a lawn care business. He tried to cut his own yard and the ditch while the grass was wet with a new zero turn mower.
He was making horizontal runs to cover the length of the ditch. The lawn mower started slipping and he used his leg to brace the slide.

They had to amputate the leg above the thigh. My brother was driving by at the time and responded. The guys wife heard him screaming and the two of them got him in her car and called ER to be waiting for their arrival about 10 minutes away. He probably would have bled to death otherwise.

Once it was over my brother came to my house and told me all about it. The report alone was horrendous and I know I would have had nightmares for the rest of my life if had actually seen the actual event.

I guess I should update this, the last of the scabs came off tonight, the ring finger has some healing left to do , both finger tips are super sensitive and I am working on trying to desensitized them, there is pain in ring finger( some pain in the middle too, but not bad) from not using it, so I need to get better at doing my finger exercises but, its progress, no more having to wrap them, the wife is extremely happy about that.

The ring finger just got done soaking in water so thats why it looks like a wrinkled up hot dog.
