Mrs 4x just left for her mom's to go cut us up some deer! Her mom just called and said her cousin was giving her a deer. She wanted my wife to go help her cut it up in exchange for a bunch of the meat. Venison isn't our favorite meat, but you can't pass up free food at this point. I can almost taste that deer jerky already. What a woman!:growl:
 
I offered, but someone had to stay here with my kids. If my daughter saw what that deer looked like before it hits the plate she might never speak to either of us again:eek:
 
An update...When she got there she found out her mom was able to get a whole deer for her too. Her cousin is a very good hunter. Only problem is she will be at her mom's until like 2am cutting and packing all of that up. She is tough though. We will be eating deer in many, many forms this year. :)

She is a great wife. Much more than I deserve I'm sure. I have no idea what pemmican is, but she can cook just about anything. She sold Pampered Chef for a while and got tons of recipes and kitchen gadgets that make things easier. She gets it honest too. Her dad is a great cook. Her mom uses the smoke alarm as a timer, so he has to be :eek:
 
Sounds like you got a keeper there 4X. A lot of wifes don't even like to cook game meat or even be around when its being processed, from hide to freezer. Teach her to hunt, find a sitter for the kids and then you can really enjoy life.

I'm not sure she could be trusted with a firearm when I'm around. Too emotional. She was raised by hillbilly parents who taught her early that meat was meat, take what you get and be grateful. She knew how to take apart a shotgun, clean it and put it back together when she was 8 years old! So she can defend the homestead if I'm not around and some crackhead tries to break in. I just don't want to be around when she is armed.:satisfied

Pemmican is prepared from lean stripes of dried meat, pounded into a paste, mixed with fat and berries, and pressed into cakes.

Kinda like jerky with fruit, just not smoked! MMMMMMMMMMMM
