Race #11 of 36. A Saturday night under the lights @ Darlington! 'UB3 Racing' holds that top position by a slim 10 point margin. Who's ready to take him down?

Scheduled green flag is @ 7:15pm/et Saturday night.

Who's taking Danica this weekend? This should be an interesting experiment experience for her.

A few stats on this race.....
  • 2011 Pole Sitter: #4-Kasey Kahne, 181.254mph, finished 4th
  • Track Qualifying Record: Kasey Kahne, May 2011, 181.254mph
  • 2011 Race Winner: #78-Regan Smith, 129.678mph, started 23rd
  • Track Race Record: Kyle Busch, May 2008, 140.350mph
  • Slowest Race Record: Fonty Flock, Sept 1952, 74.512mph
  • Oldest Winner: Harry Gant, 51 years, 7 months, 22 days, Sept 1991
  • Youngest Winner: Kyle Busch, 23 years, eight days, May 2008
Some other interesting facts on this track.....
  • The 2005 race was the first Saturday night race at Darlington.
  • The track was repaved prior to the 2008 season.
  • David Pearson leads all drivers with 12 poles at Darlington.
  • David Pearson leads all drivers with 10 victories, followed by Dale Earnhardt with nine.
  • Jeff Gordon is third overall and leads all active drivers with seven victories.
  • The deepest in the field that a race winner has started was 43rd, in the track's inaugural race in 1950 by Johnny Mantz. That race had a 75-car field.
  • Darlington is the site of one of the closest race finishes in NASCAR history. Ricky Craven edged Kurt Busch by 0.002 seconds on March 16, 2003 - which is tied with Talladega (April 17, 2011) as the two smallest margins of victory since NASCAR instituted electronic timing in 1993.
Deadline to select your drivers is May 11 5:00am EDT

Will they ever get rid of that Slowest / Fastest Race Record . It has no meaning , no relavence , has nothing to do with the driver . Hell , if they shorten a race from 500 miles to 400 miles , it will likely set a new track record . Does Nascar know how stupid a fact that is ?

Someone kick your dog this morning? ;)

I get your point, but it's based on average speed, so it isn't as irrelevant as you may think.

Speed = Distance / Time

Green -----> Checkered. Time is from the time they drop the green until the checker flag. This includes time under caution speed as well.

Here's the Darlington race September 1952 calculation for speed.

74.5125 mph = 500 miles / 6:42:37 (time of race)

Life's full of stats; this is just another one of them.

No ,it isn't based on average speed ,it is based on number of caution flags .

OK, I get what you're saying. Average speed based on green flag laps only would be more relevant when comparing car speeds from race to race.

For you fantasy players.....

Since Danica will be running the #10 on Saturday night, David Reutimann will return behind the wheel of the #93 BK Racing Toyota this week.

Don't forget about the Hendrick boys, sure they are on a 16 race Loosing streak but Kasey or Jr might bust out any time now!

Could be Hendrick's 200th this weekend!

Why JR or Kasey?

Jimmie Johnson has finished 4, 2, 9, 10, 12, 2, 3, 6 at normal tracks. And the destructor plate tracks have killed him.

At some point the 24 will break out of this funk. With 7 wins at Darlington it's pretty obvious that the driver can get it done.

Or the 24 team will implode, because everything else has happened to him, what's left that could be next?

I've been thinking the same thing. Could his terrible luck last any longer? It's unnatural.

He missed the chase one time before. Could happen again.

Come to think of it, I think Jimmie is the only guy out there to never miss the chase! What a race car driver he is! :)

One of the best ever, but he's over the hill now. ;)

Because Jr's been steady as a rock and hasn't become flustered with anything all season. He keeps running up front and in contention to Win one of thems going to come his way soon.

Kasey has found IT the past few races things are starting to click and he's looking good.

JJ's become distracted and has lost his focus, he's going to have to recoup and get back on track.

JG I can't explain I've never seen nothing like it before, he's not superstitious but maybe it's time he starts thinking about it.

I'm a seasoned 14+ year Gordon fan so I've heard it all, seen it all. But these first 10 races have been insane as far as the amount of misfortune. The last time they missed the Chase was because the car, team and driver just weren't working well together. This year, (other than the pit debacle in CA) they've been fast pretty much every week. NASCAR is like a box of chocolates...

JJ's distracted? How so. Besides the plate races where he got wrecked and had a belt strip, he's placed no worse than 12th. And that was when Bowyer took the 24 48 3 wide at M-ville. So besides dumb luck, JJ hasn't finished worse than 10th all year so far. Put that in you pipe and smoke it.

If, Ands or Butts Don't Win Championships!!!

JJ's season so far:

42nd - Daytona
4th - Phoenix
2nd - Vegas
9th - Bristol
10th - Fontana
12th - Martinsville
2nd - Texas
3rd - Kansas
6th - Richmond
35th - Talladega

Gives him a season average of 12.5 finish, with No WINS that ain't gonna get it!

Take out Daytona and Talladega and it's 7.5.

How about with an average finish of 14.23? Last year Tony Stewart got into the chase with an average finish of 14.23 with zero wins.

Well Sir, I believe that one falls under the " I'd Rather be Lucky Than Good " catagory! You expecting to see it happen Again?

Congrats to you both but how about that 'Sam and Red Racing'? 19 points in qualifying! That is some serious qualifying points. I think that we had a week earlier this season where two others did the same thing for the same weeks race. That is very rare in my experiences with this game.

Man that makes my 3 point look that much smaller. Damn.

I just realized that even bench drivers receive qualifying points  So I guess switching them arond for qualifying is pointless.

Anyone who thinks Nascar isn't very competitive should be forced to participate in one of these pools. It is a very humbling experience . Picking six guys out of the top thirty and have none of them qualify in the top ten has got to be the ultimate kick in the face for any fan .
