"In the wake of Liberty Media’s announcement that it will purchase Formula 1 by the first quarter of 2017, in a deal worth $8 billion in total, Brown said that the “strategic” nature of the new owners – as opposed to CVC’s purely money-driven approach – should spell a brighter future." I hope Brown is right. Unfortunately, I'm not sure Liberty will be able to solve the sport's governance crisis. Other needs like promotion and distribution may be more in their wheelhouse.

International sports seem to be so political in their structure, moreso than American sports, in general. F1, IOC, FIFA, it's almost like they are actual foreign governments themselves with all the bureaucracy and all the corruption that comes with government.

Something might change but the rank & file are probably entrenched. I wish them the best. It will be interesting to see how they change things.
