Jeff Gordon to retire after 2015 season

Didn't read everything in this, but I think it be cool if we all voted Gordon for most popular driver this season :) Send him out with that award would be awesome. I won't say I was ever a fan, and for a few years I disliked him. Since about 2011 or so I've grown to not mind when he wins, and if Jr can't win the championship this year I'd like Jeff to get it.

Come on Jeff. Do it!

It would be 12 kinds of awesome to have a rainbow paint scheme 24 in victory lane this yr

AS a part time driver he can run some races in a HMS car.
i know at one time and i think still now, you can't run a part time car on a full 4 car team unless that said driver is a rookie. so with that i don't think he ever drives a cup car again, because i wouldn't think he would drive for someone other than Rick.

Satellite team?

Or his own team?

I would like for him to replace DW or Larry Mac on Fox. It would be nice to have someone who isn't a bumbling idiot in the TV booth.

Doesn't Gordon have a "lifetime contract" with Hendrick? I don't know how that would come into play if he formed his own team.
there's always the possibility I'll compete in selected events, although I currently have no plans to do that. I don't foresee a day when I'll ever step away from racing. I'm a fan of all forms of motor sports, but particularly NASCAR. We have a tremendous product, and I'm passionate about the business and its future success. As an equity owner in Hendrick Motorsports, I'm a partner with Rick (Hendrick) and will remain heavily involved with the company for many years to come.

I've always had the feeling that DW isn't too high on Jeff Gordon. I don't know if it's because of their run-ins early in Jeff's career, if it's because Jeff passed him in the win column, if it's because of Jeff's history with Mikey's team, etc. I remember a few years ago when Gordon was in a bit of a slump, the Fox guys were discussing how Gordon hadn't won a championship in quite some time, and DW took a shot saying "Gordon just wasn't built for the Chase". Maybe there's nothing to all that, but it'd be interesting to have Gordon and DW in the same booth nonetheless.

He's not wrong. 3 championships mathematically won under the original system, stripped by the chase system. Gordon is a consistency driver, not a flash in the pan "when it counts" driver.

Somebody went to work on that quick. lol

It'd be cool.

And heck yeah, Gordon in the booth. That would be great.

I'd make a trio of Gordon, Burton and Letarte.

Wally is pretty terrible so he can be left out.

I think he's going to run the 4 plate races, both road courses, and the 600 for a "part time" schedule. The plate tracks because anybody can do it, road courses because he has always enjoyed them, and the 600 for the eliteness.
Gordon's not going to run plate races. He hates them.

Sorry pudge, I was referring to Chase Elliot running a few races for HMS

It's all kinds of expected this will happen...let's be fair...if the certain A-hole hadn't dumped him he would have likely been Cup Champion 2014. I don't blame him for getting out of the driving business...it's all TV bullsh!t.

Jeff was just saying during his TMD interview that he would consider a move to a television role for NASCAR.

So, which one of the two current driver/analyst days are numbered..... DW or Jeff Burton, even before he gets started?

I like Jeff Burton as a driver, but he absolutely kills me as an analyst. The network partners need to quit hiring good ideas, and get some talent.

On the other hand, had he been a little smarter he would have made the final 4 and then he still would have had to beat "Happy" to win the championship.
In reality the A-hole had nothing to do with his blowing his shot. BTW, had he raced the 48 a little harder he could have had #5 long ago. I guess it wasn't meant to be.

So Gordon is a whiner, an ass-hole and gay.

Where did all these newbs come from? GTFO of Gordon threads! And back to your holes.

Wouldn't you find it boring if all you read was people worshiping at the Gordon alter?

Some people think they are far more amusing than they actually are.
We've all been warned and know about the random log in problems when anyone is being too much of a turd. Well, one of'em can't take a hint.
