Why blame NASCAR for the price of your tickets?
They sanction the races, they do not set the ticket prices.
This is nothing more than an entertainment business, and like any other business, the price of the product is determined by the rule of supply and demand.
Of course the prices have risen over the years; can you still buy a loaf of bread for a nickel, or a gallon of gas for a quarter?
How much do you pay for a new car today? A hell of a lot more than you paid five or ten years ago!
Check out the prices of real estate vs. the same property only a couple of years ago.
How much have your wages increased over the last decade or two? Do you want your employer to go back ten or twenty years with the wage scale?
I didn't think so.
In re: the price of Tower seats. Haven't most other sports offered seasons tickets, box seats, reserved seats, etc. for years? Are not those seats usually more expensive than the regular bleachers?
Apparently some of NASCAR's fans have been living in a little world of their own for the last quarter or half century and now that reallity is catching up to them, they simply cannot seem to accept it.
Geez, time changes all things; be thankful for that and if you're unable to accept that fact, move on to something else, but please quit the constant complaining and making others miserable. (Only grumpy old pharts have the right to make other people miserable. Ask Whizzer about whether or not that's the truth.)
It's only a game for heaven's sake; I doubt that many on this forum are depending on Nextel Cup for their livelyhood, so what's the big problem?
Why not catch some great racing at a local track near you on Saturday night, spend your dollars in the local economy; and then catch the big guys when they come to the track near you or on television every Sunday afternoon? At least the Cup, Busch and CTS races, along with qualifying and even some practice sessions are televised today.
Grab a cold one, sit back with the remote, enjoy the show and be thankful for all that you have instead of bitching about what is and wishing for what used to be.
OK, I'll try to get down off the soapbox now. Damit, I'll probably fall flat on my face, should have thought about that before I climbed up here. Grumble, Grumble, Grumble, gripe, gripe, gripe, whine, whine, whine, bitch, bitch, bitch, moan, moan, moan etc., etc., etc.
Oh yeah, have a nice day!!
