Chase standings heading into Talladega.....

Untitled.jpg

Elimination. Down to eight after this one. Pressure. Man, how much pressure do those teams have to feel heading into this weekend? What does their strategy have to be to move on? Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick have nothing to lose but for the other ten, anything can happen.

This weekend we may just eliminate our Daytona 500 Champ, our 6-time champion, and the guy with most wins this season.

Clinch scenarios at Talladega: The restrictor-plate madness of Talladega Superspeedway could easily deliver multiple championship twists and turns before the end of next Sunday's GEICO 500. And the only two drivers that are immune to such chaos are Kansas winner #22-Joey Logano and Saturday night's winner at Charlotte, #4-Kevin Harvick, who are safely in the Eliminator Round.

As for the rest of the Chasers, here's where everybody needs to finish in order to guarantee their own Eliminator spot regardless of the finish of any other driver:

#18-Kyle Busch (+26 points over ninth place): 24th or better, 25th and at least one lap led, 26th and most laps led
#31-Ryan Newman (+21 points): 19th or better, 20th and at least one lap led, 21st and most laps led
#99-Carl Edwards (+20 points): 18th or better, 19th and at least one lap led, 20th and most laps led
#24-Jeff Gordon (+18 points): 16th or better, 17th and at least one lap led, 18th and most laps led
#11-Denny Hamlin (+17 points): 15th or better, 16th and at least one lap led, 17th and most laps led
#5-Kasey Kahne (+1 point), #20-Matt Kenseth (-1 point behind eighth place), #2-Brad Keselowski (-19 points), #48-Jimmie Johnson (-26 points) and #88-Dale Earnhardt Jr. (-26 points) only control their own destiny by winning Sunday at Talladega.

What if Tony blocks again and all those drivers get injured for 3 weeks?

What happens then, Brian??

Never been more excited for Talladega.

Is it Sunday yet? Is it weird that I'm hoping for a race where the 24 spends 90% of it alone in the back?

I wonder if the Chase drivers will feel that hanging out in the back is to dangerous and realize that the front of the pack is the safest?

Entry List:
41 guys that attempted all races (32-T. Labonte, 33-Stremme, 66-Waltrip, 83-Yeley)
21-Bayne
95-McDowell
12-Blaney
87-Mike Wallace
29-Nemechek

if # 24 wins race....... and jr gets eliminated........lil jeffie may wanna forego burn out on front stretch !!
straight ta victory lane.........helicopter out !! :D

So, five bucks says that this Dega race will be your typical plate race despite that it's the last race before the Eliminator round.

Anyone in?
