Just shook hands with Joe Gibbs. He's watching his grandson Ty in the 18 car try to get a win in the southeast challenger series.

Here's to an exciting two weekends

Lots of NASCAR Generations at Myrtle Beach yesterday.

Ty Gibbs, grandson of Joe Gibbs, was in the race. Thad Moffitt, grandson of Richard Petty, was there. And Kate Dallenbach, who I've written a few stories on, was there.

This guy drove around with the entire radiator hangin off. Was already penalized for spinning the 19 before it happened

That wasn't a guy, btw. That's Amber Lynn.

Gerald Benton, who races Limiteds at Carteret County and Southern National won on Friday. Moffitt, Petty's grandson, won the SELLM Challenger championship.

Saturday's race, as of now, was won by Terry Evans. Winner Justin Hicks was disqualified but it's under appeal. First time he went through tech, he was light. Went back through and he was legal, but still disqualified -- WTF? Anthony Alfredo, which is one of the coolest names in racing, won the championship.

You heading down for week two, @sky? I'm hoping to go but I'm flat ass broke. But, if I'm there and you wanna say hi, I'll likely be wearing a black "MSNBC" jacket.

Actually it's looking like I won't be able to be around til 6:30 so I might not be able to make this weekends action

Got to catch the final race after work W0W beats homestead any day of the year!

One of the best races I ever saw.

I love the Myrtle Beach 400. It's like Bristoldega. Tire degradation is so severe that drivers are having to run 75%, creating those big packs.

That finish between Christian Eckes and Josh Berry was everything. Right up there with Eric Winslow's first win at Carteret for "Finish of the Year".

I wish the PASS series was going back to Myrtle Beach. The Super Late Model races are even better because tire degradation is even worse for them. The CARS SLM race a couple months ago was phenomenal.

Yeah I'm sure the late-model race last week was a little less wild. Last year was a crazy mess. Terry Evans got screwed royally. Was good to see that he got the win this time.

The SELLM race, this year, seemed to lack any real excitement during green flag runs -- unlike the LMSC race. I have a feeling that was in the back of some peoples' heads. I was glad it was a cleaner race. Still had a lot of torn up cars.

Hated seeing Chris Burns struggle. I usually take my truck to him when I need it worked on.

Hated seeing Kate Dallenbach get caught up in that mess at the end too. She's a good kid, talented driver, and doesn't deserve some of the hard luck she had in the second half of the year. She got screwed bigtime last year as well -- especially with that "three wide restart" she was in the middle lane on that tore her car up and getting turned while leading the Last Chance race... those two deals still chap my ass.

I was glad Terry Evans won. Justin Milliken was working on his car and he's one of my favorite people -- all around, a good person. Glad he had a good run as well in the 400. His car unloaded terrible but they got better all day and night.

Last year was a crazy mess.

Last year's race was completely unacceptable. It was an extreme set of circumstances that created a perfect storm and I don't blame the track or series for it, but I do think they could have gotten some control over it.

If I was the race director, which I wasn't, I probably would've counted caution laps when it became evident they were just gonna wank around and try to kill each other. And I probably would've penalized the leader after the second or third time he bottled up the field on the restart.

Those are probably two things they could have done to restore order in that race. But, ultimately, it's the drivers that chose to engage in that stupidity. There were a couple drivers that I like a lot who seemed to be a common denominator in a lot of those wrecks. And then the final 25 laps of that race was like the final three episodes of American Horror Story: Roanoke... it was the racing equivalent to a bloodbath.

Haha what an analogy. it was fun sitting near the parents of local boy Bryant Barnhill last year he drove the CCU car and I was attending that school at the time. Avoided every crazy wreck and ran out of fuel like so many others still finished top 5 or so. His folks were so supportive and friendly.

Christian Eckes is pretty good, looks like. He's gonna need a better team to make it, though. :(
