Snowball Derby at 5 Flags in Pensacola, FL

I usually go to all of it but have too much going on this year. I'll try to go Sunday. Where do you live?

Two hours southwest of Orlando. Just seems like this time of year I always have obligations in business, which is good, but I sure want to make this sometime as I do love Pro and Super Late Model racing.

It's a blast. I'm lucky to have it damn near within rifle shot. :D

Bryon wins the pole over Bell, looks like Toyota let the wrong one get away. IMO, Bell isn't going anyplace in NASCAR.

Let me know if you make it. I'll take you to a badass pub that serves that slop that you like to drink.

Can't make it. Would've taken a miracle. Have stuff to do anyway that would've been put on hold if I did make the 13 hour drive to Alabama.

And I quit drinking. Acid reflux, drinking alcohol upsets it to a severe degree.

Christian Eckes won in a photofinish over John Hunter Nemechek. Thrilling finish.

And Stephen Nasse is on one epic, and I do mean epic, tirade on Twitter.

I like William, but it sure looked like a dive bomb on Nasse that took him out.

don't know anything about Stephen Nasse, if he has the talent to make a career in racing or not. but I don't think he did himself any favors with the tweeter rant.

I love real short track racers. The majority of the ones I know don't take to Twitter to explain themselves. It's fine that Mr. Nasse does, but he definitely seems to care what the outside world thinks and has some gigantic chips on his shoulder. I'm more understanding of his reaction in the moment than his rants continuing a day later.

He doesn't give a ****.

good for him. as long as he understands where he's at, where he's going, and is comfortable being who he is, he will be able to enjoy his future.

I will say I did a little research. considering as young as he was when he started and where he's been during his steps up the ladder, he's had to have had financial support/security from somewhere. and good for him.

but I have a problem with his cynical attitude concerning supposedly silver spoon racers. especially at age 21.

someone once explained to me that if a racer has talent, the money will find them. may or may not be true. especially when drivers are being considered/discarded while in their teens.
.
and I will concede that sponsorship dollars are necessary to run any series to get noticed...

but that money will always jump to the next big thing when the results won't support the money.

back to the Snowball Derby: sounds like an incredible race at the finish. after a weekend of weather hell for all.

disappointment? the only video of the race I've seen doesn't include the race to the finish. only the Lasse under caution crap.

and that isn't why I enjoy racing.

The entire race is on 51 On Demand for anyone who purchased the PPV.

Stephen Nasse works on his own cars. If he gets wrecked, he has to fix his own car.

Nasse's point isn't necessarily about the money, but the principle. Nasse might be a "rich kid", but he's not a rich kid in the same regard as William Byron or some of these other guys who show up, drive the car and go home.

Neither Kevin Swindell nor Kyle Larson understand why Nasse was pissed. He was pissed because he works his ass off to run these big races and finally, after all his bad luck, had a shot to realize his dream only for some NASCAR driver to take him out.

I totally get that.

Boo Hoo Hoo.

The Twitter tirade exposed the guy. He got caught out in a racing thing. His on-track response was to go all Bowman Gray on Byron.

Oh, well ... now he has something to fix.

Exposed?

Stephen Nasse has always been one of the black hats in Super Late Model racing. He doesn't care, he relishes in it.

Dude's been through a lot and was more deserving of a Snowball Derby win than anyone -- except maybe Bubba Pollard. Anyone who hasn't won it that is.

Here's a story I did on him back in 2015: http://www.stscene.com/2015/05/20/stephen-nasse-determined-win/
