Off memory, I think he's won some championships in SRL Southwest Tour. I always have this guy as a darkhorse pick for the Derby.

Derek Thorn and David Mayhew are both a couple West Series drivers (though many probably) that should/did have the talent to move up the latter.

Derek thorn is the winningest driver in the history of the Spears SRL tour. This include back to back poles at the last 2 Winter Showdowns and this year's wire to wire win.

Too bad he isn't younger, I believer he is 29 or 30, so he is probably past the age of moving into Xfinity or Cup, might still have a shot at a truck ride. 71 career wins, pretty impressive.

I don't know that he is really looking to advance any further at this point. He is a big fish in a relatively small pond out here when it comes to West Coast Super Late Model racing. He has a good program behind him with more than enough funding. He doesn't do many if any K&N West races so he isn't even competing with the Egglestons and Gillilands of the world. On the west coast, if you want a look at a Truck, Xfinity or Cup ride you have to A) have money or bring backing, 
win some big west series races or C) get in a 410 Sprint Car and travel the states making some noise and getting noticed by the influx of dirt guys in Nascar.

Yeah, it appears to be the case. He stays in his lane so to speak. On the West at home in Bakersfield he is dominant. For the most part any where out here on the west he is the guy.
