Danica Patrick won’t return to Stewart-Haas in 2018

Intriguing. Think SHR fields 4 cars next year? They just got Smithfield from the 43 as a sponsor, but the 14 and 41 both need additional sponsorship. Will also be interesting to see if either Kahne or Kenseth gets that ride.

Shes been a wonderful positive influence for the female nascar audience but the double standards were sickening.

Next woman up, please.

"“I wish SHR the best of luck with their new sponsorship and driver."

Whoooooo?? Please be a young face with talent.

I found this quote to be strange too just in the sense that I wasn't sure if she was referring to the Smithfield deal or something else...

"My time driving for them, however, has come to an end due to a new sponsorship arrangement in 2018."

With the direction things have been heading in regards to younger drivers, I expect Cole Custer to be in the #10 next year.

Wasn't unexpected. I wonder what she will move onto and where she sees herself in the future?

I guess the new sponsor wanted someone new behind the wheel of the 10 machine.

 !!!

Well, as I said in another thread (and as Ricky Craven just said on Sirius XM), would be interesting to see her in a good Xfinity ride. Though I have no idea if any opportunities exist there.

I hope not. I tired of them reporting on her during a race when she's running around 20th. They don't spend the time with other drivers running there. Don't attempt to try and make me care about a failed driver. I hope she goes back to Indy. She was very competitive there and I think she could still be that if she wanted to do it.

I woulndt be surprised by this, not that he ready though , but If not for 18, I can see him maybe in 19

If Custer does move into the #10 seat, that would leave the 00 Xfinity car in need of a driver. Maybe DP.

She already recently said she has no interest in racing the lower series again though. She said it's cup and that's it for her for her stock car racing career.

Been a fan of hers since Indy 2005. It was fun , lord knows I have enough diecast of hers.
looking forward to still keeping up with her and seeing how long it will take for the next
female to come along and rewrite and exceed her accomplishments.

IMSA.

Really rough time for NASCAR to be losing Danica Patrick and Dale Jr,

Yep, now the series is losing two of their most popular drivers after this season!

The only race I've been to this season was Las Vegas, and I recall being impressed how many people were walking around sporting Danica gear. And it wasn't only women or kids.

Every time I saw Danica from the stands prerace , she always had a really large group following her.

I wish she would reconsider running Xfinity full time. She we would at least have a chance of making their playoffs, chase etc.

Racing isnt easy, and it would help to get used to running near the front, and eventually winning.

She's been positioning herself as a lifestyle "brand" in the recent past. Posting health food cooking, crossfit & yoga workouts, and motivational quotes.

So imagine Rachael Ray with a healthy look.

there are several drivers out there riding success of something they did many seasons ago, it's a shame Danica has as many wins as some of them the last 3 or 4 years and they still hold their rides.

Would much rather watch danica get some time to come around more. She has made gains even though it's taken awhile. Her name Is bigger than several drivers who actually have 8 or more wins... interesting.

I have a feeling Almirola is going over there with Smithfield...
Wasn't that one of the hottest rumors on about page 1 of the "silly season 2018" thread? And now it seems to be coming true.

Can't really say I'm surprised but what a bummer kind of wondering who they're going to convince the show up to the races nowadays if all the reasons to go are retired.

"Will likely take decades to see anyone even challenge her legacy."

I'm sure Brad meant that as a tribute to Danica but gods, that's a depressing notion. I hope the field is full of competitive females long before decades pass.

Hinting that his daughter will be the one to challenge her legacy.

Are we all assuming she's just done in cup? She didn't say she was getting out altogether...

this is legit a very very sad day. its my birthday and damn this.
Have to hope something happens like shes in the 77.......
