When will NASCAR go EV?

When Harvick can do a burn out.
In the meantime, 4 wheel drive and steer is a must.

using fossil fuels to charge up batteries..what a concept. Bunch of yahooties driving around..look at me I'm green..yeah it will work I have no doubt.

I will be smothered, covered, chunked, diced, peppered, capped and topped before E racing comes to Nascar. For the sake of context I plan on being here 4-5 more years, 10 years would be really stretching it and by 15 years I will long gone from this celestial ball.

Nascar has had talks about this. If it were to happen it the earliest would be 2023. In my town Tesla has about 8 charging stations, 5 electric car chargers and 10 electric car parking spots.

They adopted the incremental change of fuel injection 25-30 years after the mainstream auto industry did. If the idea of electric vehicles makes you crap your drawers, you don't have to worry for two decades minimum. Unless we're talking about a lower series, which will happen sooner.

powered up by fossil fuels, financed by taxpayer money..I'm so excited.

Well this is a bleak outlook.

I think even Brian France should know that NASCAR would die if they went all-electric.
Maybe they'll keep the V8 engines that long until everyone and even the car manufacturers realize that battery-electric cars aren't the technology of the future and that hydrogen cars are way more efficient and ecological.

An electric NASCAR does not sound appealing at all.

A long time from now.

Maybe, just maybe, within a decade they'll have some sort of electric series at what's currently the Xfinity or Truck level. But that is still a good way away from now.

Don't know, but if Brian keeps chasing Yuppies while chasing away his core fans and if he ends up with a big power company as series sponsor it could happen any time...

Out here on the left coast of Canada, electrification is seen as the answer to vehicular travel.

Concurrently, a lot of people advocating for that are among those publicly protesting the construction of a multi-billion dollar hydro-electric dam project.

The first February after someone says they want to sponsor an electric series.

It will probably be set up as a separate series, not a modification of Cup or Xfinity / AAA-level series; it may or may not replace the Truck series (assuming it's still in existence when this comes about). The sponsorship offer will likely come from some combination of manufacturers and utilities.

Has anyone seeing a Formula E race? It's terrible.

They need 2 cars to finish a 30 lap race. lol

You realize that the new Tesla Model S P100D goes 0 to 60 in under 2 secs, right? It is the only mass production vehicle to do that. It has the equivalent of 750+ horse power and has a fuel cell that will run could run for over 600/620 miles.

Electric vehicles will never be the norm in our lifetime just as bitcoin and other forms of cryptocurrency will never be a primary form of payment.

They're the trendy new "thing". The way I see it, they either won't last, or they'll plateau and won't ever become convenient enough to be adopted by the majority of the population. How many electric cars are we really talking about outside of Tesla these days? Their brand is way too expensive and their 1 inexpensive model is far inferior to the rest.

Oh and electric semis LOL not happening.

Same here in the east " we want clean energy but don't put wind farms in our sight" They bitch about no jobs but protest building anything

Using electric cars in NASCAR is not going to be feasible until someone finds a way to recharge batteries in just a few seconds.
