NASCAR Pinty's Series

Was exaggerating about the mini/bone stocks selling out at Jukasa. Just mean right now people are eager to buy anything Jukasa is willing to sell them because it's the big new thing and a lot of people have been anxiously waiting a long time for racing to return there. I can't wait to see how many fans they can pack in once they redo the grand stands. Right now only the top 10-15 or so rows are useable since they added banking to the front stretch.
l

Jukasa seems like they have a pretty special evens lineup for next year with 2 Pinty's races, the big late model race, King of the Wing sprints, ISMA Supermodifieds, etc.... Nice to see the place back. I had only been there twice prior to next year, was sad to have a legendary track like that sitting empty for almost a decade.

Yeah, I'm hoping to get out to at least 2 events there this year. Definitely going to the labour day weekend late model races. Probably go to the Ohsweken races on the Friday night too since it's only like 20 minutes away. Their grand re-opening last year was the first time I've been there and it was awesome. Hopefully they bring in more food vendors this year. You could miss a whole race standing in those food lines

I can last at least 4 hrs without more food so that wouldn't be a problem for me. It is the 9 hour drive south to get there that bothers me.:D

Same here, i very rarely buy the overpriced track food. Most tracks let you bring in food anyway. Last year at the Pintys series race they were giving away full large size bags of Pintys potato chips, so i was set anyway.

What races did you go to? Which track?

Do you mean for Pinty's Series races? I've been to every track on the current schedule except Saskatoon.
If you mean about the free Pinty's chips, that was only given out at Jukasa as far as I know. They were the event sponsor as well. Pintys used to give out free buffalo wings samples at Kawartha for years as well.

I thought you might be Canadian but I see I was wrong. I didn't know people followed any Canadian racing.

Not Canadian, but i'm a huge fan of the series, as well as ARCA, K&N Pro Series and others. Travel together with my father to a lot of races. Used to usually make it to around a half dozen Pinty's Series races, but lately have only been making it to two or three per year. The Pinty's series is just as good as anything going on in the states IMO.

As an entertainment I can agree. None of those drivers that earned a try in trucks or Xfinity have been successful. Not sure if it is the level of skill or the equipment they get.

Well, it is about being entertained! I'll take any Pinty's Series race over a boring cup race at a 1.5 mile track or Pocono or Michigan..
Not sure that many of them got a try in winning equipment in the higher levels of NASCAR. Andrew Ranger does have many wins in the states though, in ARCA and K&N Pro Series. All of the US wins were on road courses, I think his team was pretty mediocre, but the equipment didn't matter as much on the road courses. I think if he got a shot with a decent team on a road course in one of the top 3 series of NASCAR ,he could definitely compete for wins. He is pretty good on the short tracks as well.

Pinty's series has a nice entertaining product, professional looking teams with the giant rigs, used to have a lot more major sponsors, but those have been dropping off. The quality of the series has been going down during the last few years, but its still a great series.

Quality going down because Nascar bought the series and are saving teams money. Does that sound familiar. During the early 80's these guys ran mostly in Ontario and Quebec, An $8000. dollar motor had to be used for 3 years. They had a few other rules that helped save money. Many had a cube van for equipment and a car trailer. Now the insurance and a need for a AZ driver for the big rig drives those costs up.
But your right, it is very good entertainment for what we pay. This year I will have the truck series on TV so I will get to follow that on a regular basis. :pbjtime:

He has a pretty good resume
Pete Shepherd III to compete full-time in NASCAR Pinty’s Series

https://www.motorsport.com/nascar-c...ete-full-time-in-nascar-pintys-series-999025/

Thats awesome news for the series! They have been losing good drivers over the past few years, including Pete (though he was not full time).
Not sure that the team has the best equipment, but maybe the can make some improvements to it over the off season.
I've been in attendance at like 3 or so of his wins, he is a great driver!
Would be nice if the team is able to do well and be able to compete for the championship.
I still have not heard what is gonna happen with the #32 championship winning team. Supposedly Alex Labbe isn't returning to the series.

I'm excited to see what he can do with a full time ride. He'll be a serious championship contender if their equipment is up to par. He was running select pro late and super late races last year. I got to see him in 5 races and he was probably one of the 3 fastest in all of them in a pretty stacked field.

Labbe is supposedly going to Xfinity this season as per BRP's wishes. Haven't heard anything about what team he's racing for, but I would assume GoFas would just move their program from Pintys to Xfinity

Isn't GoFas Racing in Canada just Dave Jacombs racing, just branded with GoFas to show alliance with the cup team, probably for the sake of sponsorship?
I don't think Jacombs racing is going anywhere, they have been in the series for a long time. Thats the team Andrew Ranger was with before switching to Kennington's team. GoFas team in the states could easily set up a Nationwide for Labbe.
I imagine the team will return in the Pinty's series, who knows if they will still have sponsorship from Can Am or even keep the same car number

Ah didn't realize that was the structure. Found a recent article referring to him as Mario Gosselin's Xfinity driver. So he could be driving for them fulltime. https://www.speedwaydigest.com/inde.../41753-mullins-and-team-solid-at-daytona-test

I doubt BRP is staying in Pinty's after pushing Labbe to go to Xfinity. Were they with Jacombs before Labbe?

I think Jacombs racing became GoFas in 2016, not 100% sure on that though.
Since the team has been around at least in some form since the CASCAR days, I'd imagine it will still be around in some form in 2018 as well.
Would be nice if Can-Am would continue to sponsor a Pinty's series car with a new driver.

Looks like the Lapcevich family is selling their Pinty's cars due to lack of funding. Was at Motorama on the weekend and Cayden mentioned they might run mosport and Jukasa if the cars don't sell, but no intention to go out of Ontario unless some funding materializes. So that's the last two years' champions not returning this season.

On the bright side, the new Camaro for Pinty's looks dope.

We have to make feeder series' much more inexpensive. The Canadian series is one of the best things that modern Nascar has created but there are so many Financial hurdles that there is no incentive to do this anymore. Obviously Dodge has a lot of money in this series and if you don't drive for them you don't get a piece of that pie. Look at Alex Labbe he made it to the Xfinity series. The trucks as well as all of the feeder series need some type of financial alleviant similar to Winston's point purse that was given to tracks all around the continent 15 years ago.

NASCAR didn't create it though, its just the old CASCAR series, NASCAR just bought it and renranded it
I do love the series though! Not bashing NASCAR here at all either! The series actually has a really long history. I don't think they should have reset the record books when they took it over, since the change was literally just the name. Same drivers, teams and cars in 2007 NASCAR Canada as there was in 2006 CASCAR.

Yes I'm aware of that, I just meant that as far as a modern NASCAR series goes it is the best one to watch.

Canadian D.J. Kennington set to make short track debut in Cup Series
Kennington, a two-time champion of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series in Canada, has made seven previous Cup series starts but none a track a less than a mile in length.

He will drive the No. 96 Toyota for Gaunt Brothers Racing in Sunday’s race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway with sponsorship from Gordon Brothers, a global advisory, restructuring and investment firm.

Autodrome St-Eustache will be closing after the 2019 season.
That really sucks. That along with Barrie were my favorite tracks in Canada. The Mosport oval was also torn down a few years ago (to build a go kart track or something... makes sense to destroy a perfectly good 1/2 mile oval for that...). Canada is losing all of its good tracks... At least Cayuga finally came back.

Just watched the race at CTMP. Wow! Couldn't believe they peanalized Ranger there seemed like a racing incident to me. Especially after seeing Gary Klutt get flat out DUMPED by Tags. Glad to see some cameros in there should be an awesome season cheers to a year long points system!

Kevin Lacroix scores maiden oval track win in NASCAR Pinty’s Series

The TSN broadcast will probably be up on youtube a few days after the broadcast on tv.
I am not a fan of the new segment format. They have used it at some of the K&N races (Bristol and Memphis both used the same segment format).
K&N already had the halfway break at most races which was plenty for a 150 lap race IMO.
NASCAR Canada (going back to the CASCAR days) always did live pit stops. The only ones that I have seen do anything different was at Chaudiere and the Edmonton oval. Those tracks are 1/4 mile and don't have sufficient pit roads for live pit stops, so i think it was fine there. I don't like them doing away with live pit stops in CASCAR at all... I was at Jukasa though, good race, only 18 or 19 cars, but plenty of quality cars. Good show at the nicest oval facility in Canada.

^^ that was a wild race, heck of a finish. NBC and FOX should take some tips from the production quality.

At Canadian Tire. Tagliani and Ranger put on a show at the first part of the race. Great race production without screaming and with shot gun side in car cameras
