Rate The Race: Daytona 500

10.

That was aweome start to finish.

Young guys were fantastic.

8. For a restrictor plate race, the first half was wild with plenty of action. Wrecks are a by-product of plate racing but this race was exceptional with plenty of passing and maneuvering for the first 120 laps. Things settled down as far as aggressive driving during the last eighty laps but there was still plenty going on and the end, unfortunately, was a wreck fest.

You would probably have multiple suicides from a few on here if Go Daddy announced a 5 year deal with her. There are at least 3 members here that has let her get into their head so bad that I don't know what they might do.:D

Nah, a message board isn't that serious lol

Plus I have a better chance of winning the lotto than that happening anyway lol

4 - Almirola and Bubba Wallace at the font at the end kept me into it. Otherwise a combination of too much single file, wrecking too easily when they did try to race, wrecking too many good cars early racing for stage points, and the broadcast going to commercials when things started to shake up had me feeling like I wasted the afternoon.

I actually generally like the plate races, but I haven't enjoyed the last couple Daytona 500s

9 Dillon missed it by one number. Should have taken out the 11. Race could have been a 10.

I'll go with a 7. Perhaps it should be higher, but a large portion of stage 3 was single-file train racing.

At least that's what FOX showed us between lengthy commercial binges.

The commercials over the last forty laps killed any excitement and it was simply a wreckfest. I think only 10 cars finished without crashing, a quarter of the field.

Also terrible to see Dillon win, I can't think of anyone in sports I dislike more.

8. Was good racing with this Aero package. Blaney had the best car and I was disappointed he didn't win

Xfinity was more enjoyable, (except the end) I give it a 7

3 Cause we got to hear the roar of the engines and participate in the pomp and circumstance of the 100,000 get together.
With only 6 or 7 cars still on the lead lap due to wrecks how can anyone have enjoyed it as a race?
Curious to know just how many cars could have participated in 10 more laps with a possibility of winning.
Give me a race where the BEST car wins.

10. Obviously, I hated the finish, but I thought the racing was great. Particularly proud of MY TRD powered Toyotas (as bias factors into every one of these posts IMO). Much better speed on a plate track. Denny had the best car in the field IMO, and raced brilliantly. It was his to lose, and he just lost it by picking a lane that should have worked, but didn't. I was into it. I responded as I normally do when I am disappointed. It was why I watch this stuff.

7.5. It was a good plate race although not the winner I wanted to see. Not a fan of the winning move - hooking the 10 that way - but I guess that comes with the territory on the last lap...:idunno:

Props to Blaney and to Bubba too!

0. It was every bit as awful as I imagined it would be. You might as well just throw darts at a board to pick a winner.

I believe that is the only way anyone would pick Lil Sweet to be the winner of a race.

The first two segments were decent, although the sheer number of commercials spoiled the show. But the last segment was mostly a train race without much action except for crashing (and I'm not a fan of crashing). The ending was another embarrassment for the sport - the winner wrecks out the leader on the last lap, then everybody justifies it by saying "well it's the Daytona 500" - which verifies the poor reputation that stock car racing has amongst the general public.

Race was an 8. Broadcast was a 4. I don't understand how more people aren't complaining about the scoring box taking up a quarter of the screen.

Some of us rate the race itself, separate from the broadcast. Different people have different criteria.

That was a pretty stout beginning to the year. It was joyful to see Kurt get his first stage win, and intriguing to see Ryan Blaney display such dominance over the field for most of the race. Just getting to observe a few changes in who was strongly contending for the honor of winning the sport's biggest race was neat. Bowman and Jones were out front leading the pack for a little while - that was exciting. :)

The finish? I was badly wanting Kurt to go back-to-back, and was rooting for him hand-over-fist to get it over everybody else... then he gets caught up in a wreck with 2 to go. Disgusting.

Almirola and Dillon end up being the two commencing battle up front, only for Dillon to dump Almirola, who I would have been content with seeing win the race - especially over Dillon. Did not happen. Disgusting.

The finish and AD's celebratory ritual get a rating of 0 from me. :p

Bubba Wallace got second in the 500. Hell yeah!

Wasn't able to watch as I was ice fishing but was able to listen... I'd give it a 3.
