NASCAR CEO BRIAN FRANCE BUSTED FOR DUI & OXYCODONE

Got down to this paragraph --- really surprised me. I thought BZF still had a stake in NASCAR.
The Wall Street Journal reported in 2017 that France sold his entire stake in NASCAR more than a decade ago. That means France’s fate as CEO likely rests with his older sister, Lesa, his uncle, Jim, and other stakeholders who must ask themselves this: On what grounds can Brian France credibly oversee NASCAR’s substance abuse policy, safety issues and, for that matter, the entire organization?

Guess I wasn't paying attention when this happened.

On NASCAR America they announced Brian France is stepping down for a bit and Jim France will be the intern Chairman and CEO.

Does Brian have the chance to appeal the decision? Like the teams do?

Letting Brian continue to represent Nascar and waiting until the wheels fall off was a stupid move by the family. Enabling him to do the damage he has done? I am not sympathetic one bit to the family that enabled him to continue to do what he does. He should have been gone from the Nascar business scene years ago. If he ever cleaned up and had a long track record of doing so THEN he should be let back into the company.

Don't mistake that I'm defending Brian, I am not. He has a much larger problem that NASCARs downturn. And you touched on a hard topic of the families of addicts, Enabling. That's the worst thing for an addict. They should have gotten on top of this when it was first known that he had a problem. But, you cannot fix an addict. Best thing for them is to let them hit rock bottom. I hope Brian is there. There is only one way to go then. He has a long, hard road ahead of him.

I’m assuming he’s bought himself out of jail. Not many people get arrested for DUI and drug posession and get to “focus on personal affairs” afterwards.

One step away from a heroin addict.

If the Wall Street Journal is correct about Brian not having a stake in NASCAR, then it's up to the board and stakeholders to decide his fate.
if papa john resigns over what he said, I would think brian would over this.

I hope this is the beginning of the end for Brian France in NASCAR!

My first reaction to seeing this

Is there anyone who doesn't think this 'leave of absence' is permanent, that he'll be eased out with no further acknowledgement?

Do we speculate about his successor in this discussion or start a new one? And where do I send my resume?
It was mercifully swift, and I have little doubt that it's permanent. Send your resume to Lesa France Kennedy or Jim France, but I suspect Brent Dewar is already on 2nd base.

"Goldman Sachs on line 2 for Lesa... Lesa pick up line 2."

"Comcast on line 5 for Jim... Jim pick up line 5."

"Bruton Smith on lines 3 and 9 for anyone named France..."

Not exactly the Game 7 moment he was looking for.
ya never know. That motley fool running around like a loose cannon. There is no telling if he had the ability to hire and fire people or have an influence in the internal affairs.

Dont know anything about Jim France but apparently he did some great things for IMSA but absolutley gutted motorcyle racing in the US.

While in Daytona Beach, a maintenance worker is scraping his name off the door to the executive suite, and probably trying to avoid being heard cackling with glee.
And of course France has to turn in his key to the executive washroom as well lol

I think some exaggerate NASCAR's "bad luck", but Chase Elliott's first win being supplanted by this crap as the top NASCAR headline after less than 24 hours sucks.
That is such a Brian France thing to do, take what should and could probably be a bit of a gold mine for NASCAR in Chase Elliott's first win and throw it in the trash with his own post-race antics.

Jim France was an excellent choice, he's had 60 years of experience in the industry, and under him IMSA has exploded in popularity. I think NASCAR is gonna thrive under Jim, we may not get to late 90s/early 2000s popularity again, but we may reach mid 90s levels of popularity

Brian was no where near the track when he was busted. Complete opposite end of NY.
