The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series returns to the Great Lakes State this weekend for the Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

The most popular driver is Kyle Larson, who was selected by four players. The second most popular driver is Chase Elliott, who was selected by three players.

Of note is the fact that @Johali, in race #23 of 36 races, has used an "A list" driver (Brad Keselowski) for the first time this year.

That leaves just @aunty dive and @kkfan91 as the only two players that have yet to use an "A list" driver.
Good luck to all and thanks for participating.

Let's go Bayne, get me a top 25!

not even close . . .

And with Trevor Bayne's 34th place finish at the Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan International Speedway, @Brentford falls out of the top five in the standings for the first time since the tenth race of the season (Talladega #1).

Congrats to @Johali who takes the "Highest Finishing Pick" award for the first time all season as Brad Keselowski, Johali's first "A list" pick of the year, managed a second place finish. In addition to those two milestones, this is the first time all season that @Johali has picked a driver that finished in he top ten.
So it begins
indeed . . .

Congrats also to @Spotter22, @aunty dive, and @DC76 as they had the most upward movement in the standings, each moving up three spots.

@Conover and @SlicedBread22 each captured their first "Wiping Up the Rear" award of the year when Corey LaJoie brought the #72 car home dead last.

@Ashstrodamus moved back into second place in the standings after an absence of a week and sits 31 points behind @Blake Hylton, who continues as the game's leader for the fourteenth consecutive race.

Last week I had Logano, who crashed on lap 1 and was scored in 37th = last place.

This week I had Will Byron, who spun and crashed and lost two laps before the fly-over jets were out of sight. Scored 36th.

I've dropped "like a stone" from 10th place a couple weeks ago to 20th, and I still have to use a motley crew that includes Ty Dillon, David Ragan, and Chris Buescher.

It is still mathematically possible foe me to hit the magic number of 36 X 15 = 540, which could win the game. However, I'll need 13 straight top-10 finishes with an average of 6.8 per race. Where is that Golden Horseshoe?? :D

You're spot on about needing to average about 15 points per race in order win this thing.

Over the last four years, the winning points per race average has been 15.6, 14.3, 15.3, and 15.2.

Also, figure on needing to average about 18 points per race to finish in the top ten.

I am somewhat confident that I can manage a top 5, though I can't have many more bad weeks. Thankfully I dont have to use Bayne again.
