2018 Abu Dhabi

The donuts may have been the best part of the race. The aero changes better pan out next year or it’s going to be really hard to hold my interest in F1 past the summer.

I'm putting more energy to watching IndyCar and Formula E for open wheel racing. GP3 is merging with European F3 to make the series larger and F2 will be more interesting IMHO.

Same I think I only watched 2 or 3 races after the summer break this year. The gap between the top 6 and everyone else is really bad. Only 1 time did a driver outside the top 6 (Perez) get a podium. ONE TIME. That shows how far the gap is and the only reason Perez got that was besides numerous guys had issues. I have no problem seeing the same guys win, thats how F1 always has been, but I long for the days when someone like a Panis, Barrichello before Ferrari and so on would fight for Podiums naturally not because of issues with top cars

Nando pulling on our heart strings at the end of this thing.

Actually it was a decent race with more on track battles than some others this year. Some more bull in a china shop moves by Verstappen.

I agree that the gap between the top three teams and everyone else is an embarrassment. I don't think it can get that much better next year. Is 2021 the next major rules reset? Hopefully the interim aero changes can make it a bit racier, but they need to go much further. All F1 really needs is the top three teams executing well and consistently, and for what feels like an eternity now only Mercedes has done that.

Does that say much? lol. I thought it was okay early on but it became background noise pretty quick for me.

Yes, the big overhaul is planned for 2021 with the new engines as well. From what I've read recently many team bosses seem to think 2019 changes will be more money spent on developing new parts for not much marginal overtaking/racing benefit, so I am tempering expectations. But I don't think F1 can really afford two more years of crap racing because this year and last is probably the worst stretch of racing since 2009-2010. Ferrari haven't been able to execute in years, so I guess the most intriguing thing would be how Red Bull-Honda pans out.

The whole decision that F1 needed to be 5+ seconds a lap quicker a few years ago was a bad one, but that also wasn't Liberty's fault.

Another year in the books. Let the withdrawls begin.

The race had its moments today. I agree with FL - donuts were cool.
With a few deck chairs being moved around in silly season, I just don't see
anyone doing much with the Mercs Works. Looking forward to the new aero
package. Something new to look at.

Y'all have a good off season. I am already counting down the days for the 24hr of Daytona.

The F1 understatement of this century...:dual9mm:

They need to un-do that 5 seconds, and then un-do 5 to 10 seconds more. Downforce levels are absurdly high. Braking zones are ridiculously short. The engines are too complex, too expensive, and too unreliable. The sport's governance structure is unwieldy and rigged toward the status quo. Frankly, I feel sorta like one of the Nascar fans that wants to travel back in time. But in reality, I just think F1 has placed its priorities wrong... too much emphasis on Shock & Awe... not enough on Racing.

TL;DR... GET OFF MY LAWN!!!

I never thought you would be for slowing a race car down. But that is what I thought exactly also. They went past terminal velocity to ridiculous a long time ago in my opinion.
