So can he back it up in 2019? Can someone else be the 'Back-to-Back Champ' in 2019? Well no actually no one else can be the 'Back-to-Back Champ in 2019, He is the ONLY ONE who can do that in 2019 so he's the only one with a chance! Kind of exciting don't you think? I'm ready to buy a second Champ Tee Shirt.

Seasons feel so choppy (like Stage Racing) and so many things have to come together.

Regular Season win and you’re in or be at mercy of points racing
Collect certain types of points to carry thru the Chase
Stay out of trouble at key times
Peak at the right time
The Chase 16
The Chase 12
The Chase 8
Final Four Winner-Take-All: qualify for pit stall, keep up with track day into night, stay out of trouble, work your strategy...

So much to do right and plenty of stuff out of your hands that can go wrong — just to get to the Championship Race.

I hope Logano family, friends, and team enjoy the off-season, because back-to-back is a big load to carry.

hope that damn Stang is better out of the box then the Chevy is my concern. Go from there. The Chevy's might as well have bolted a push bumper on the front. It wouldn't have mattered much last year.

Yes and at the same time Nascar is doing major engine fiddling, it may be hard to get a handle on the new car when your 'baseline' car is no longer relevant engine wise. I thought the Camaro would be a piece of cake with it's Xfinity experience, but I was wrong big time. One thing for the Mustang it might be easier to transition to the new weak sister engines., the Camaro had a big leap.

Haas and Penske organizations give hope for the Mustang launch, Rousch not so much...

Good stack of drivers for team Ford, as well — that also helps the launch.

Everyone could be hobbled with powerplant change/mod/retune/whatever — which could ripple thru other shops in the garage.

January puts us in striking distance of the new Season!

Chase won 3, maybe the problem isn't the car but the people working on it?
HMS should lay off 100 employees and then see if things improve.

Do you really think that is the way the "Announcers" will refer to him as. None wanted him to win.

Can’t answer that.....the one race winner take all Miami Bowl makes it hard to predict if someone can repeat. I will say 22 is the defending champ until next year in Miami not because of the calendar change.

That is one way to see it. I see it as:

Joey Logono "Current Raining Champion throughout the 2019 season" :D

Exactly.

Who cares anymore? Does it really matter? Logano might win the first 35 races next year, finish 2nd at Miami, and lose the "Championship" to someone like Ryan Newman with four top 5's all season.

But don't worry, some goof will defend it by mentioning how the Patriots lost a Super Bowl one time

Logano and Champion should never be in the same paragraph.
Anyone still wondering why the sport is losing fans.
Neither should any driver who only runs 20-odd races, but they're both in the record books to stay. I submit that's more of a reason why fans would leave, although I doubt either has much to do with that.

The current point format that determines a champion is precisely why I no longer watch all of the races.

They are all racing under the same rules and points matter so I am happy with everything except Last race winner is Champion. I would like to see "Most points last 5 races" for Top Five in points after race 31.

eh you don't have to look hard with just about anything to come up with a whine, quote facts and figures and make a daily career out of it. I don't like they way they come up with a champion, but it isn't that terrible looking at it closely. Logano/Penske played the playoffs like an ol crafty dog like Penske is he saved the best for the last, built all of the brand new latest and greatest cars for the playoffs and it worked. Logano smoked em at Homestead.

I don't think even KDB was as disliked as jolo
