I couldn't agree with him more, but Nascar isn't going to appreciate that. I'm assuming he still races in the trucks?

The "playoff" point system would matter more if it was a top 2 head-to-head battle instead of Final Four lottery.

Missouri now, but I moved here from Wichita, Kansas which is where Barry Sanders was born and went to school. I think that's why I have always been a Lions fan.
You know 25 years ago in Vancouver during the summer I was driving airport cab and I picked up Buddy Ryans wife and took her into the city....you may be too young to know of him.

I also picked up Scotty Bowman

And Johnny Depp.....who was charged with assault in Vancouver...I asked him what happened and he said he spat at some dude.
Also Billy Connolly.....he's a comedian.... and quite a few more...fun times

You know the cab company dispatched me to Chinatown in Vancouver...I didn't know what for,,,,they wanted a cab for a movie....called Cousins that was being filmed. They just wanted the cab and have some crew member drive it. I said I can look like a cabbie....so they said OK and so I was it.
Sean Young was in the cab with me first and the Lloyd Bridges. Lloyd patted me on the back and said..."Let's go to a bar"

Matt’s not wrong. Unfortunately there might be an untimely yellow flag during his playoff run that might derail his shot at a championship. Kidding aside.... I think this is the first driver to just come out and say this, it’s mostly just been passive aggressive chatter from guys about this system. Interesting to me I’m sure he’s not the only one that feels like this. I keep hope to the day nascar abandons this farce system and goes back to a real full season points system. I’ll probably be old and gray if it happens but I’ll be happy nonetheless

I guess since since Crafton said it (and he is win less) it is supposed to mean something. Fans have been saying that and more for years.

Says the guy who ran like sh!t all year and didnt win anything.
Now that ya mention it. I like Crafton just fine, but on the other hand looking at performance, he's a guy that has led a sum total of 34 laps this year. He should be grateful/lucky he made it into the playoffs. I thought during the race when there were 4 trucks that needed to win in front of him, that he had put himself and his team in that position to be knocked out of it. He got lucky with a late caution or two and the wrecks they caused that took out some fast trucks to help him squeak in.

Guy hasnt won a race since 2017. Hate it for Rhodes, hes running much better then Crafton.

Funny, the list of credits for that movie includes everyone up to and including "Chinese Fish Salesperson", "Farmer on a Tractor" and "Train Platform Attendant."

Nothing about a cabbie, though. :D

Rhodes isn't finishing better than Crafton, though.
Crafton is third in points after 16 races and barely makes the playoffs. That shows what goes wrong in NASCAR.
I could argue the other side. Nobody dominated, a lot of different winners. On the other hand two drivers pointed their way in and one won the regular season title doing it. Problem is I can argue the hell out of the other side also.

Not a Crafton fan at all, but that's his point I think.. I read it as a "we really don't even deserve to be in the discussion anyways but obviously we'll take it" kind of attitude.

Rookie Ankrum was in a position to win late until he got wrecked with a push by Crafton and it took out a bunch of good trucks including all of his fellow DGR Closley's. . Not saying who is at fault, but impressed Ankrum was in that position. He keeps doing that and it isn't any fluke. I'm not very high on Rhodes, he reminds me of young Nemo, he keeps stuffing his truck in places where it won't fit, screws up a lot of restarts, but he is fast as hell, too fast sometimes. He's had plenty of time to settle down.

Crafton did look like he lost a bit of a step after 2017 and Sauter was the main man of the field. Then Moffitt last year with his run, but Crafton is still one of the best drivers in the field. A model of consistency and like many has said, the playoff system should be shifted. At the same time, NASCAR has made its bed with it IMO. Especially after trickling down into the Xfinity and Truck series, its here to stay at this point.

I totally understand where Crafton is coming from though. I can only imagine how frustrating it is.

I think Crafton will stall out in the second round at best unless he gets really lucky or finds some speed. Top ten's aren't going to cut it.

He can always bow out. :D

This is tired and stubborn. If a few drivers race this format, sure.

But guess what? Everyone follows the rules. It's just as legitimate a format as any, because guess what? They all follow it!

Stage points award how good a car runs through out the race. Wins give you playoff points.

The only thing I would change about this format (as it would award this "consistency" people are crying about).. the regular season champ gets a by into homestead. 2nd place gets a by into round of 8, 3rd place gets a by into round of 12.

Other than that, it's not on NASCAR that people aren't accepting something that is over 15 years old. That's a LONG time for someone to hold onto something. Elementary school students have graduated college during that time span..time to move on.

Crafton lost a step because the field is actually stronger. I like Matt but he capitalized on some of the pathetic fields in 2015.

True, but to think ThorSport post shop fire has not been the same IMO. They have not had the same speed in a couple of years.
