7pm EST start on a Sunday huh o_O...not complaining just odd. I like a slick Las Vegas track.

IIRC all the west coast twilight races Fontana ran had similar start times but were on a Saturday.

I'll be there. Have a hot pass for Friday & Saturday. Still think the race could be started 30 minutes to an hour later, especially since it's on NBCSN anyway, not sure how much night time there will actually be for the Saturday & Sunday races..

so this race starts 6pm Central time? I am all for some Sunday Night prime time racing, I am excited with Football Night In America/Sunday Night Football on NBC......giddy up. I will wish I had two TV's though while this is going on

There are so many commercials that yesterday I was switching between an NFL game, NFL Network updates and the race. As long as you have DVR you can rewind if you miss something and you almost never miss re-starts because they take forever to get going.

Wow! You predicted it would be hot in Phoenix
You must have missed my prediction it would be hot at Darlington. You could have had the complete set. A collection of my 'Rain at Rockingham' forecasts recently brought $45,000 at a Mecum auction, and they weren't even autographed.

Does that include Charlie singing "Running Down the Dream"

No, but it does include Charlie running down the plate tracks. :D

I leave covering Tom Petty to those who can do him justice. Call me if NBC finds someone.

I hear that they are waiting for Clutch to come from New Zealand and they will adjust the starting time to coincide with his arrival.

I love this race.....especially jacked about the 4 p.m. Pacific start time. Makes for an awesome way to wrap up the weekend. Can't wait. Hot and slick is good for MY Toyotas.

Revman referring to 'HIS' Toyotas is like Ohio State insisting on 'THE'. It's an affectation that's amusing at first glance but grows boring with regular sampling, redolent with overtones of pretentiousness and stale snotty finish.

And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

I have a buddy that drives one of the Penske cup haulers that I used to work with on the Nhra tour and I had a chance to talk to him for a while at the hauler parade at Indy. I wished I would have asked him about the grueling schedule they have with Indy and Las Vegas being back to back races. I never saw another driver with him but I know they switch back and forth and run teams a lot of the times, but even with a team driver it has to be tough to do the Indy parade on Fri night and then practice on Sat, then qualify and race on Sun then be back at the shop in NC on Mon morning, take inventory and restock parts, wash the hauler, shop and restock food, get uniforms dry cleaned and then be in Las Vegas for the hauler parade on Thurs. Damn! I'm tired just thinking about it I had better take a nap before I drive my 75 miles to the track in Pa today..:)

Goodyear Fast Facts — Las Vegas

“Las Vegas is widely known on the NASCAR circuit as a track that does not wear tires,” said Greg Stucker, Goodyear’s director of racing. “That is an important concern for Goodyear and the race teams because when tires don’t wear, they don’t shed rubber and therefore retain more heat. What that requires us to do is bring tread compounds that will wear more and help the tire run cooler. We’ve done a lot of development work in this area, with a number of tracks that have ‘smoother’ surfaces. We’ve come up with a successful right-side tire that accomplishes that, and we now bring that to multiple tracks — Texas, Kansas, Michigan and Kentucky, in addition to Las Vegas.”

Why does Vegas have this stupid policy? I would have a great time if I had a little bit of water.

17) What food or beverages may I bring inside the gates?

  • One (1) non-alcoholic beverage per guest. Beverage may not exceed 20 ounces and must be contained in a plastic sports bottle, plastic cup, or metal tumbler.
  • One (1) food item per guest. Examples include a sandwich, crackers, chips OR fruit. Family-sized bags of food are not permitted.

So that you have to buy their incredibly overpriced concession items.

It just makes no sense considering I've been to Sonoma & New Hampshire this year (both SMI like Vegas) have a relaxed cooler policy, I'm sure most of the ISC tracks do too.

That is bizarre. I've had policies like this at the smaller tracks but never a big NASCAR track. Heck I don't even think my cooler was within the 14"X14"X14" limit Bristol imposed and they let me in without looking twice.

They know you're leading the points Very gracious of them.

You were upside down when you arrived from NZ .... have they been able to do anything about that?

LOL, that's pathetic. I never really planned on attending a race at Vegas, but I guess now I can officially cross it off my "tracks to see" list.
