2019 Italian Grand Prix

Its kind of creepy how much the Italians worship Ferrari.

You can be a dedicated fan but damn. I wish I was Leclerc though. Guy has free everything in that country for life.

Nationalism is so strong over there however, it’s what drives F1. Ferrari symbolizes Italian brilliance and power, that’s why it’s such a big deal.

As an engineer at Honda I can tell you this seems quite common within your foreign companies. For the Japanese it is a HUGE honor to be able to work for either Honda or Toyota because those are such symbols of Japanese excellence

But a nationalistic America like Santino Ferrucci gets railroaded off the continent. They all hate each other over there like it's still WWII and even though we
broke it up, they especially hate America. That's why they are so crazy with "nationalism." It's kind of their version of racism.

Then again, I'm just an "ugly American savage." That is, until they need us again.

Meanwhile, there was no real battle for the lead because you can still push someone off the straight at 200 mph. I was hoping Leclerc wouldn't one of those guys.

Glad to see Botas back in the fight though. Fast enough on his day, but not in kill mode every weekend like Lewis is. A most excellent #2, but the points spread shows the difference.

Not happening.

They'll treat Vettel as their #1 guy until he leaves the team which could well be after next year.

Not if Charles keeps raking up Ws, especially a Monza. Then again, look how fast they turned on Lauda even when he was winning championships.

It's probably over for Ferrari until next year, but they made the most of their two best tracks. It's not good for F1 when Ferrari can't win.

My boy Danny Ric coming home 4th is like a win for that team this year.

Really good result for them, especially on a power circuit. Their program is really coming together.

Poor Hulk being showed the door right when the car is getting good. My guess is he replaces Kubica at Williams. Helps the team develop their sh*tty car and gets demoted to the sh*ttiest car of all. Racing has never ben fair. I hope Nico gets an Indycar deal instead, and we will definitely take him if he wants to run in IMSA

I hate to say it but Vettel belongs in a home. What the **** is with this amateur-level driving? How this guy manages to look like a wanker so often now is beyond me. I'd bet Kimi would do better in that seat right now, it's not like Seb is hanging with Leclerc anyways.

Those rejoins from Vettel and Stroll are things I'd expect to see in a junior touring car series. Embarrassing.

"I need more power, man"

lol Lewis, the only tracks where Ferrari have a prayer are the drag strip tracks. Not exactly something to be desired.

I’m just glad the other teams have caught Mercedes. It was damn absurd how dominant Mercedes was those first 6 races

How about that Albon guy? Out pointed Verstappen in back to back races.
Albon's on track to keep that seat next year. Slight mistake trying to pass Sainz on the outside of the Lesmos early in the race but overall he's been a big upgrade over Gasly so far.

Ferrari will get their lunch ate at Singapore, they don't have the grip. I'll expect a duel between Hamilton and Verstappen. Bottas will probably qualify well and then fall off during the race.

Leclerc should have won at Bahrain (engine) and Baku (crashed while leading Q2) as well, both power tracks.

Hulk will most likely be announced by Haas by Singapore. Not necessarily a great car but hopefully Haas can find some more of their old form again next year. He and Magnussen should be a decent duo, probably more consistent than with Grosjean.

Nothing signicant has changed from those first 6 races where they went on a tear really.

If you take into consideration Max's wins came from Mercedes owning themselves and one race where the temps were so high they had to coast for one third of the lap.

I think Ferrari found a winning formula with Leclerc. I think he'll continue the roll he's been on.

Guy is a machine. From 5th to 3rd in points in what? 2 races. Leclerc will be the one eating Hamilton's lunch soon.

Lewis Hamilton will change the way he races and interprets what is acceptable in battle as long as Formula 1's rulemakers stand by new precedents being set.

How much fun is this going to be, eh? Aside from his clashes with Nico, I've never seen Hamilton pull a dirty stunt. Now though, it's so prevalent up and down the field, it's just what you have to do to be competitive.

After Verstappen barged Leclerc off the road to win Austria, then Lecerc doing the same to Hamilton at Monza, This is the new blueprint for winning. Either ram the guy off the road when passing, or pinch him into the dirt while defending..........and that's just what you have to do, except now it's perfectly accepted and the world champion seems to be onboard too.

Leclerc was simply the first to say "if that's how they way they want to race, I can do it too," and the FIA chose not to clamp down on it then. Now the world champion is ready to rumble, and we know Max is ok with a little deliberate wheel banging. The crane is going to be epic, but you can't feel sorry for any of them because this is what they want.

The FIA has let the copping, blocking and swerving get so far out of hand that this is what it's come to. It will go on until someone is killed, and we damm well know this. Then everyone will be all weepy and proclaiming "Oh, the humanity!

We have known this was coming from as long ago as the days of Senna and Schumacher, and the FIA has allowed it to come to this

People complained the FIA was too strict and that they should let the drivers race. Now people are complaining that they are too lenient and they should punish aggressive driving.

Leclerc moved more than once. When your own team is telling you to stop moving so much, it's a done deal.

The problem has been out of control since Senna. Schumacher perfected the and art now dirty tricks is just what you have to do. I'de be ok with it along as the FIA wasn't pretending they actually care about safety. Why bother with sterilizing all the circuits and making the cars safer if they are just going to try to kill each other?

The FIA either doesn't know the own rules or doesn't care. It's either inept or evil. Probably both.

Well it was Ferrari and in Italy. I can probably hit the lotto before the FIA does something to them while leading for a questionable move at best.

They did nailed Vettel but his incident was so egregious you had to give him a penalty. Not like it mattered anyways since he was way back anyways.

I'm ok with it as long as the FIA says it's ok to squeeze or ram the other guy off the road. It just has to be black and white so you race each other accordingly. That and it's got to b the same for everyone.

I think he didn't see him. It's not like you can look over your shoulder in one of those cars. Still, it was so unsafe they had to do something.

Vettel is clearly lost right now. He's going to be lucky to finish the championship fourth, It might even be worse than that.

I think he'll lose another spot to Max. He hasn't scored a single point in 2 races and that's basically the reason why he's not behind even Max at this point.

I see nothing wrong with what Leclerc did. Honestly pinching a guy into a turn is one thing, it’s the insane swerving I believe is a bigger problem. Also if a wall is there that’s when it’s really worth a penalty in my opinion

There is nothing wrong with it because it's apparently legal, but I don't believe you can tell me you would be ok with being squeezed off the road at 200mph. Put yourself in the seat and you might view it differently.

I was happy the last few races to see anyone but Hamilton win, but not like this. I certainly don't think this kind of thing is fair and this is supposed to be sport.

Honestly pinching a guy into a turn is one thing,

Except he pinched him completely off the road. The rule is you are supposed to leave a car width, and he didn't. Then again, if the stewards don't care about the rules, there may as well be no rules.

it’s the insane swerving I believe is a bigger problem.

I completely agree. That's going to get someone killed.
Also if a wall is there that’s when it’s really worth a penalty in my opinion
There's no rule about that, so how do you enforce it? Steward's discretion? Look how many calls they have blown this year already.

This breathless tsk tsk'ing is precisely why the phrase "panties in a wad" was invented.
