The 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series ended with just FIVE predictions posted prior to the start of the season having been proven to be entirely correct.

Note that Jimmie Johnson's retirement announcement has been added to the ballot that was previously posted.

Predictions with multiple parts are eligible to be considered as the most bold only if all parts of the prediction were proven to be true.

Each of the five correct predictions is eligible to be considered as the most bold prediction of the year.

The decision as to which one is the MOST BOLD is up to you.

Each member of the board can vote one time and one time only.

Voting closes after two weeks. Votes can be changed until the voting window closes.

The entire list of predictions is as follows:

I am staying with my previous vote. For JJ to go 2 full seasons without 1 win
is/was almost unthinkable. Retiring was always a possibility considering his record, family situation and financial status.

I'm sticking with a winner missing the playoffs.

Wasn't JJ's announcement several days after the end of the season?

Yeah, but who's counting. :D

There were a number of "announcement" type predictions (including yours) that couldn't really be expected to occur by the end of the race season.

Johnson's announcement occurred so soon after Homestead that I thought it should be included.

If Kyle Larson retires and joins the World of Outlaws anytime soon or if RPM closes shop tomorrow, I suppose write-in votes could be considered.
Obviously, due to the nature of some predictions, the game has drawbacks that only a sledge hammer could fix. :crash:

Good enough for me. You're the man doing the heavy lifting!

Oh, and RPM? I officially declare my prediction false, as it didn't occur during the 2019 season. It doesn't matter if they're making an announcement at this very moment!

We are still in the 2019 season as the banquet is still to come and so is New Years Eve.

Well, dang it! I already won this race once... but it seems the result of that election was cucumber'd or something. So everyone who voted for my bold prediction, please go to the top of this thread to vote again...

At least one MENCS winner will fail to make the playoff field.

As before, if I'm elected I promise no tax increase on the middle class; a chicken in every pot; and a badass hot rod in every driveway!

Gotta admit that this two threaded monster didn't work out quite like I was hoping.

But it's good to be king.

I've decided that, all things considered, the vote totals from each thread will be counted towards determining the game's champion.

So for the record, the prediction that "At least one MENCS winner will fail to make the playoff field" was up by two votes in the original thread.

Cheerleaders for the other predictions on the ballot have got their work cut out for them before the end of voting window that occurs sometime before New Years Eve.

Not sure if I'm supposed to say my vote but I'll go with the 2019 non-playoff winner aka Haley. Not hugely surprised at all that Jimmie went winless in 2019 after how much he fell off mid-2017.

4 of these are a hell of a prediction imo. I'm surprised the failed inspection hasn't gotten more love, usually at least 1 team gets busted, and I remember there was a lot of pre-season chatter about that one on here. The JJ's I guess aren't as bold but still bold? since we all saw him struggling for an extended time period, had to wonder how much more not winning he could take, calling the exact year he hangs it up is big news. A race winner not making it into the playoffs, that's never even happened before right? Even though that wasn't the exact premise behind the prediction... it happened....so...tough one.

As a matter of fact, that sorta was the premise of the prediction... that a backmarker team would fluke into a win but remain outside the top 30 in points. And I also recognized the remote possibility of more than 16 winners in the 26-race regular season, but thought that was even less likely to happen. You're correct that it has never happened before in the "win and you're in" era.

Oh okay I stand corrected. Even more impressive prediction to me then.

Dunno what I was thinking but I now realize that counting vote totals from each thread is a pretty dumb idea.

By going that route, the prediction by @fergy1370 that "Jimmie Johnson will announce that 2020 will be his last year racing" doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of overtaking the prediction by @LewTheShoe that "At least one MENCS winner will fail to make the playoff field" or the prediction by @Get That 88 Up There !! that "Jimmie Johnson goes winless for a second straight year."

Therefore, the winner of the NASCAR - 2019 BOLD Prediction game will be determined by the vote totals in this thread only.

The voting window for this thread doesn't end for at least another week.

Seize the opportunity, vote . . . . . .

Balloting ends in a week.

At this point, @LewTheShoe seems to be benefiting from the battle between the Jimmie Johnson themed predictions.

I think I'm benefiting from actually having a bold prediction, unlike the two Jimmie Johnson ones. I mean, everyone knew Jimmie's existing contract expired after 2020, when he'd be 45 years old. A truly bold prediction would have been that Jimmie would actually extend his cup career further. Predicting he'd retire when the contract expired wasn't bold IMO.

As for being winless in 2019, Jimmie had already been winless for 59 straight races in 2017-'18 with rarely a sniff of a top-5 finish. Father Time is an actual thing... even for the greatest racer of his era... and recognizing that is not especially bold. It wouldn't have been a shocker for JJ to win a race in 2019, but by the same token, not a shocker that he didn't. Just my $0.02.

Although there were some posts on the initial VOTE thread showing support for "Jimmie Johnson goes winless for a second straight year" it now appears that only @LewTheShoe is on the campaign trail encouraging votes for his prediction.

Is it possible that a late turn-out could upset his apple cart ?

With a little less than three days until the voting window closes (yeah, two weeks was twice as long as it needed to be) it appears that volunteers promoting the contending predictions have been run off the campaign trail somewhere in Iowa.

With three strong predictions vying for this year's title, the winning prediction is likely set a record for the lowest percentage of votes cast.

A list of previous winners of the game:

2011 - 46.2% - @dpkimmel2001 - Paul Menard will win his first Cup race with RCR in 2011

2012 - 50.0% - @FenderBumper - Brad Keselowski wins 5 or more races

2013 - 47.2% - @BobbyFord - Matt Kenseth will get 5 wins in the JGR #20

2014 - 72.5% - @Wrangler1 - HMS (5, 24, 48, and 88) WILL NOT be among the final four eligible for the title

2015 - apparently lost due to the Board crashing

2016 - 43.5% - @Zerkfitting - Tony Stewart will win a race this (2016) season

2017 - 56.1% - @SlicedBread22 - No Chevy's in the Final (Championship) Four

2018 - 47.6% - @Snappy D - Matt Kenseth is driver of the #6 car by the 2nd half of the year

CONGRATULATIONS TO @LewTheShoe !!

2019 Bold Prediction champion plaque.jpg

The ballots have been tabulated and a little over a third (37.2%) of the votes cast went to the winning prediction by @LewTheShoe.

With 32.6% of the vote, @Get That 88 Up There !! took second place in the balloting for the second year in a row.

His 2019 prediction that "Jimmie Johnson goes winless for a second straight year" came up short as did his 2018 prediction that "Jimmie Johnson Goes Winless." I'm thinkin' we might see that prediction from him one more time.

The prediction by @fergy1370 that "Jimmie Johnson will announce that 2020 will be his last year racing" finished third with 27.9% of the vote.

So add @LewTheShoe to the top of the list of champions of this game.

2019 - 37.2% - @LewTheShoe - At least one 2019 Cup winner will fail to make the playoff field

2018 - 47.6% - @Snappy D - Matt Kenseth is driver of the #6 car by the 2nd half of the year

2017 - 56.1% - @SlicedBread22 - No Chevy's in the Final (Championship) Four

2016 - 43.5% - @Zerkfitting - Tony Stewart will win a race this (2016) season

2012 - 50.0% - @FenderBumper - Brad Keselowski wins 5 or more races

2011 - 46.2% - @dpkimmel2001 - Paul Menard will win his first Cup race with RCR in 2011

See ya'll next year !!

As far as absurdity goes nothing will top the prediction @Snappy D made last season...you ever get back to me on those winning lotto numbers?
Absolutely... Snappy's 2018 winner was the best of the decade without any doubt.

As for my "campaign promise" of a badass hot rod in every driveway... everyone needs to specify their personal preference... a V-8 Camry; a V-8 Mustang; a V-8 Camaro; or a ghost image of a Dodge. Get yer orders in now... LOL.

You don't have to get me a V8 Camry. Just providing documented evidence of the existence of a factory one will be more than sufficient.

Votes still anonymous?
raw

just kidding... I'll take the image of a Dodge considering gas prices
