NASCAR reveals pit stop rules changes for select Xfinity, Gander Trucks races

a bit easier to read. I see now what they are doing, only two tires a stop among other things. The road course pit is interesting..either or.

All cars pit at the same time, regardless of what lap they are on, lead or not. I'm guessing it will be used if there had recently been a caution and most of the field had just pitted. On road courses where field position is a premium, few cars are likely to come in for a second stop in a short period, so bunch 'em up and get back to green.

My ADD kicked in reading that article. Seems way too complicated and I wonder how many more laps will run under caution as timing and scoring is trying to get the lineup right. They already have issues with that now.
:D get out the aspirin. The cars will be timed individually from yellow line to yellow line on the timed pit stops. Oh hell, I can hear Allen now for the hundredth time saying that.

Why is it no one is as upset about this as I am? No pit strategy?

If NASCAR wants to experiment with pit strategy, I wish they'd gone with pitting under green only. No pitting under yellow or stage breaks.

The object is to help teams cut expenses by not having to fly cup crews back n forth to these stand alone lower series races. I don't quite get how that is going to be a big cost saver. Somebody still has to pit the car. Hauler drivers?

Road crew can do it since its a timed stop and will give plenty of time to get it done.

Hope they have their sheet together when it comes time to do the trucks. Both of their trials come in the playoffs(gerbiling playoff implications). Damn I hope this doesn't turn out to take ten minutes to get them lined back up.

Quickie yellows mean all cars or trucks can pit when pit road opens regardless of being on the lead lap or not. Quickie yellows occur when a caution comes out for a minor reason, ( debris, car stalls on the track) and can be rectified quickly not leaving time to have a lead lap stop and a non lead lap stop before going back green.

Might be a little learning curve but it should be fine. You just leave the cars or trucks in front who didnt pit and then line the others up who did 1 stop then the 2 stoppers.

Yea I had the same problem. I dunno why NASCAR tries to make everything so complicated. Have they never heard of Keep It Simple Stupid (K.I.S.S.)?

Waltrip grandstand, section HH, row 45, seats 15 - 22.

There are plenty of teams in Trucks and X that aren't affiliated with Cup teams. They're able to pit cars every week without using Cup crews. I'm not knocking your answer, and I favor taking that advantage away from the Cup-Lite teams, but I don't know about this. After all, these series develop crewmen too, not just drivers.

They have and with the scoring system they have in place this wont be a problem, the number one reason for doing this is the teams are hemorrhaging money and they have to find a fix. If things go according to plan, this combined with the new engine rule you will see new teams coming in to the series.

They had something similar to this early in the truck series if I am remembering it right. I think there will be a lot of two tire stops, but then again the fast ones can start from the back and run thru the pack pretty quickly with 4. It has possibilities to be pretty interesting in certain situations.

Road course strategy is another reason to switch to pitting only under green.

Green flag pit stops greatly increase the importance of pit crew performance. If underfunded Team A loses 10 seconds per stop to Cup-affiliated Team B, that 10 seconds translates directly to time lost on the track. Under yellow, this isn't true. There is a limit to how much time can be lost, since everyone lines back up nose to tail. Obviously the new arrangement negates pit crew performance entirely. But with the objectives being more competitive teams and lower costs, allowing only green flag stops would promote the opposite.

I think difficult decisions are being made for the lower series that were perhaps put off under the old leadership. It simply isn't, or shouldn't be, in the budget for the vast majority of Truck teams to import Cup pit crews to have any chance to race for wins and top-5s. Premiere late model events are reaching the same conclusions. This is a good and necessary change that will likely be expanded next year, especially in the Trucks.

The only people showing up with Cup crews are Cup teams with B Main cars in the fleet.

That would be easy to fix on its own.

That's easy enough. Treat crewmen like drivers - you sign up for one series and that's it.

But I can compromise. Leave the bottom levels alone and restrict pitting to green laps at the Cup level only.

Are you saying they implemented a new scoring system since last year?
