RACE thread --- Duels from Daytona

Thought Jimmie had his ass. Not a fan of Byron, but cool to see the 24 win again.

The Chevy's won that one playing their cards right, but they almost gave it away the last lap

Kurt should have dropped down to the inside about a lap earlier when he had a clear opening. Oh well

Kurt took a lane that wasn’t there. If Harvick just maintains his line it’s carnage.
There was an entire lane , JJ moved down to block and Kurt had to move down to not wreck and there was Harvick.

Johnson's last duel, finishes second, and they can't even give him a ****** interview? Do you Fox sports.

A gap isn't necessarily a lane. He made a lane. It worked out. It's racing.

That was more than a gap, I agree, he waited too long to make that move and should of did a lap earlier.

Hopefully the drivers learned tonight that if you don't wait till you are 50 feet from the finish line to make a move, you might actually win the race.

Man, Byron threw some hefty blocks on JJ in the last lap and a half or so. Jimmie wasn't content just pushing him.

The text? Bottom line the 12 missed the plan and tried to get back down too late. Its not that hard to understand
Yeah, drivers fault he was not informed. And the 12 didn’t come down on Suarez, Suarez moved up to avoid the 2.

Yeah that is a lot of Suarez's problems are bad decisions IMO. They were clearing out in front of him dropping down to pit and he mashes the gas and jerks it to the right without knowing who is around him. Blaney had little or no warning with a move that fast. Suarez would have done the same thing driving a SHR car and wrecked out IMO. I think he is in over his head in the cup series and it is going to be a long year ahead for Suarez sadly.

The races were pretty good. I always get a thrill seeing the cars running 200 mph in close quarters. I'm not a fan of manufacturer orders - I don't like team orders either.

Blaney thinks it was all his fault. He saw that the Fords were pitting and thought Suarez was part of the bunch

I think that is Blaney being a classy guy. Was a racing deal. Brad didn’t signal very quick, Blaney was not in the know because his spotter or CC didn’t get the message, and Suarez got pinned in and made a bad call to move up. Didn’t look to me like Blaney was moving down but he knows more than I. Sucked for Suarez. I wanted him to make it.

How is Suarez wrong for avoiding the 2?

I'm not understanding this, unfortunately I was at work. Watching the accident, its just a case of incident of bad timing. Suarez avoids Brad while he puts his hand out of the window to give the signal he's pitting. Blaney was out of line completely and did not know of the plan to pit.

Its neither driver's fault IMO, just a case of bad timing for them both. In Daniel's case ending his weekend entirely. He was pissed and his interview with Weaver, you can hear the hurt in his voice:

I'm definately rooting for Daniel this season, its not going to be an easy one.

Neither driver's fault, racing incident, works. But Blaney is taking the blame and Suarez has never been involved in a wreck that was his fault, biggest victim in the cup series. Well he's close to the biggest. Some of them expect everybody to move and let them thru when they are near besides never causing a wreck.

Blaney has taken responsibility for this incident.

With all due respect, he had a pretty good seat.

“The 2 like he said threw out a late " im pitting wave" and the 96 had to move up. if the 12 would have been in sync with the Fords he would have never been out there.Bottom line he shouldnt have been in the outside lane.”

Blaney, inexplicably, says he came down into the 96 in an effort to pit with the Ford brigade when video shows the 96 moved up (as you even said above). You’ve contested it was Blaney’s fault he was not informed of the plan. Maybe the teams fault for not seeking that info and conveying it to him when they had to know it was coming up, but not the drivers fault he was not in the know and out of place to carry it out.

Whatever dude. I'll take my 30 years experience and Blaney's word. You can continue this debate wih yourself
