Cup RACE thread --- Richmond

Should be of no surprise the first 2 drivers to advance to round 2 due to winning. Harvick and Keselowski will most likely be among the final 4 at Phoenix. So, so far, no one has snuck up and spoiled things. Closest to that at this point would be Austin Dillon.

Great performance by Brad and the 2 crew.

Props to the Hobbit too, he must have made a trip the the crossroads.

Brad was so sure that he was going to win but nobody could find his American flag to carry. Awkward.

Brad doesn’t look like he’s 35, still could pass for late 20’s. Good aging genes

Also considering how good Brad and Joey were there in the spring no one should be assuming a Denny/Harvick title.

11 and 4 should title, but damn this **** ridiculous. Final 4 bs instead of season long. Whatever. 2 and 22 are strong.

I quit watching shortly after stage 2 break. Was there ever a caution?

NBC is a bunch of out of touch goofs that don't realize that the playoffs aren't the most popular thing with many many fans. So instead of soft pedaling it a bit, it is full on cram it down your throat B.S.

They and a portion of the reporters who cover the series have bought hook, line, and sinker into the unfounded fantasy that the only reason people watch NASCAR after August is "the playoff bubble".

17 years man.

Birth to high school graduation, season long reward just isn't even a thing anymore.

2 has shown he has it this year. If he somehow get it done, he deserves it.

I find it funny how when a crew chief gets kicked out people openly talk about said crew chief still being in constant contact. Kinda takes away the severity of the penalty.
It is quite a toothless penalty in this day and age.

Brad's never really been too far from the top all season long. He just hasn't had as many wins as the cast of The Harvick and Hamlin Show have, and two of the wins he got played right into his hands. Still, he's not one to sleep on.

I think it’s the playoffs to be honest. It causes drivers to race much more carefully as to not get eliminated which is the reverse of what it was intended for

100%! With 12 cars advancing to the next round and at most 3 cars able to get a win in round 1, points racing is the obviously option. 1 wreck and you are basically eliminated.

Brad is gonna be tough to handle. He was already a contender anyways before last nights race, but he could be ‘stepping on the throttle’ at the perfect time so to speak if he keeps the momentum rolling well

Instead of kicking them out of the track, I'm sure NBC must have an old sound-proof booth left over from some game show that they could let NASCAR use. Take away their phone and lock them in the booth for the duration.

Welp there was your high HP low down force race. You be the judge.
I'll take it. Every track, every week (not the plate tracks). This was real racing... a contest of driving skill and car setup prowess to roll the center and get drive off the apex, while taking care of the tires and saving the brakes.

Good stuff... satisfying to my soul, and entertaining to watch.

I know you hate the NBC screaming gerbils, and so do I, but I listened to them talking about trying to make time around the track... the extended time off throttle, pedaling off the corners, not getting WFO until the start/finish line because of wheelspin. Even that corny cliche about the egg under your right foot. The telemetry showed 138 mph corner entry... hard braking, rotors cherry red... 82 mph at apex... then fight for grip to accelerate off the corner.

High horsepower / low downforce... bring it on. Just my $0.02.
