Cup RACE thread --- Homestead

What happened to post race interviews? We got Byron and Truex. Unless I missed somebody?

I've lived with my girlfriend for a year, and there's certainly a belly that wasnt there either LOL.

Although I can't blame the beard, I've been shaving since I was 12.

No, I'm not exaggerating. 12.

Yes, it was 12 months ago I realized Willy B was gonna put some W's on his resume. On that day when I realized that he was battling with the 12.

Childress saw Reddick coming. Signed him away from Jr. Motorsports
Might’ve saved his organization poaching that kid. Found his new Harvick. Only a matter of time before he finds victory lane.

It’s improved Austin’s performance as well. Having a teammate that isn’t a Menard/Hemric wheel holder seems to have motivated him.

Some one needs to tell Fox to show the finish of at least the top 10 crossing the finish line before concentrating on the victory celebration.

It's nice to see HMS taking it's place back at the top of the heep.

With the 11 Championships between Gordon and Johnson really out of the picture now, we have a new baseline, and the Dynasty seems over.

4 young drivers, 1 Championship already in this stable. Byron coming into his own, Chase proven champion, arguably the most talented driver in Larson, and just a solid solid driver in Bowman.

I doubt we will see the level of dominance we saw with Gordon and Johnson, but we really could see the 9, 24, and 5 fighting for Championships moving forward.

Kyle Busch will be twilighting, and Logano will be smack dab in the middle of his prime.

It's a new era boys and girls.

Now can Ryan Blaney please start putting some races together/winning? I fear he may be keeping the seat hot for Cindric in 3-5 years if he doesn't start showing results.

Apparently my early encounter with puberty 17 years ago was an indicator of Willy B's future success..

Yep, this one was a pretty big deal. Looks like it may actually be FRM's first Top 10 ever at a 1.5 actually.
McDowell has been a main cog of the growing of this team.

Jerry Freeze and Bob Jenkins have slowly inched forward with their relationship with Ford. Its paying off now, hopefully they can retain this type of speed through the season. It's refreshing to see them succeed and McDowell has been improving season by season in the 34. Just now they need a steady hand in the 38.

I hate to say this but JJ moving on probably helped them. Now they don't really have any guys that are looking for that "feel" in the car from 5-10 years ago

I’m happy to see guys I like and non usual suspects winning. But it’s week 3/36, maybe cool it with the hot takes lmao

Its been a joy to see. Been ages since we’ve seen a team and driver sneak up on the competition like the Love’s guys have so far.

I agree.

Chase winning a title so early in his career, with so little wins and so few years of success is HUGE for the organization and his teammates because it gives them a low, grounded standard. This is no shot against Chase Elliot, just pointing out how great it is for the team, and his teammates.

1 championship, 11 wins is now the standard. It's still HMS. But 1 champion and 11 wins is way more grounded than the last two champions and firmly within the grasp of all 4 drivers.

For the first time in 30 years, there isn't a GOAT driving for HMS. This is going to be a really really solid roster of drivers who are going to win A LOT of races.

85% of HMS' wins came between Gordon and Johnson from 2002-2015.

I think we will see a much more even distribution of wins here, similar to what we saw with JGR these last few years.

Byron definitely had the car to beat today and they made the right choices when the track changed. Larson had a pretty decent car all day also although because Fox concentrated on the winner at the end I didn't see him fall to 4th. Bowman had a good car until the track changed and then they seem to have lost the handle on that car a little... and I don't think they ever really got a handle on Elliott's car. But, overall a pretty good day for HMS and Chevy. I think Byron is still the number 4 driver but I think he is maturing and is going to be a good driver for HMS and hope to see many more wins for the young man.

Good start to the Fugle era.

Reddick was incredible, would've been a nice showdown if he could've made quicker work of Truex and Larson.

I actually think with 4-5 second lead there Byron was saving a little something if Reddick would have caught him. He clearly had the best car.

Reddick gained 5 seconds in 6 laps.

Byron did similar when building his huge lead to start with and could have definitely found some speed by moving to wall if he had to. He had the cushion to not have to do so and protect his car. Not necessarily saying it would have been enough.

I do think Byron was trying to just maintain the gap once he got to around 5 seconds out but Reddick was so much better than everyone else late I think he had at least a chance. Just got held up in traffic a few laps longer than he needed. Even before he made his charge through the Top 10 he was the only one running on par with or quicker than Byron while Willy was gapping the field.

Yes I do think Reddick could have caught him. But seeing how much trouble Reddick had passing Truex etc I believe whatever Byron was saving would have made it pretty tough for him to pass if he got there.

You have to be a full second quicker to overcome the wall of air created by the bedroom door mounted on the decklid of these cars
