Chase Elliott

Au revoir, Eddie. Au revoir.

Seriously, WTF? Let's see how it plays out in the legal system, but the mob already has the torches lit on Reddit so all bets are off.

Wait, wasn't Eddie spotting this week?

If they knew (upper management of HMS)... This could be bad, very, very bad.
Why?? When did he have his day in court?
Oh I see, because some reporter wrote an article the man has to be guilty. Why bother with trials, just hang him and get it over with.
I wonder if it was a verbal assault?

Nah, reddit wants blood and they want it now. There was one level headed poster who pointed out that he is employed or connected to 3 teams: Hattori, JRM, and HMS. That's over 800 employees and 3 major players in the sport with HR and PR departments that said nothing, which lends to the conclusion that Eddie kept it hidden and private. The arrest is legit, and I want to at least hear the accusation/story at the very least (much less a trial) before we hang him. If he's even remotely guilty, then throw the book at him and rid the sport of him.

Bill Elliott is about to be at the track a lot more often.

Reddit is an echo chamber and doesn’t necessarily welcome the opinions of reality.
I can't see Bill doing full races. Maybe Trey (who was second spotter Sunday), or Earl Barban. Get Brett Griffin for the laughs (given his barely hidden disdain for Chase on DBC).

I guess we're going to have to take HMS at its word. That is a leap of faith for most and I fully understand that. :idunno:

So, seriously, who will spot the 9?
I think they'll probably reach out to Earl Barban for this weekend since JJ isn't running the 500 and he's experienced and familiar enough with Chase to come in on short notice. Beyond that, his buddy Trey Poole would be my guess. He did awesome Sunday and did some things that really helped Chase make up some time in that back portion when the weather was poor.

I do think Eddie will be back if the legal stuff sorts out and he's able to get the help he needs. He's a valuable asset to have up there.

This will be another instance where NASCAR only gets national news attention when something negative happens.

I don't understand how anyone could think Hendrick Motorsports would have known. Why would they try and cover this up.....and all that risk, for a spotter?!? No way in hell.

This is why I don't participate in the NASCAR subreddit. Reading through the comments and I see nothing has changed. No logic, all knee jerk emotion.

Honestly, I think its the fact many want the chaos.

I just hate the fact this man decided to hit/beat his pregnant wife. Forget looking at HMS, its the fact Eddie even thought of committing this atrocity.

I'm curious, where was it reported that his pregnant wife was the target? Anonymous keyboard warriors on reddit or other social media? As we now know, the circumstances around the incident are quite a bit different than that.

It's nice to see this kind of stuff coming back now. This was yesterday outside turns 3/4.

That sure brings back some memories. When we had the 7-Eleven sponsorship we had to do a lot of meet and greets on Thursdays of race weeks.

So the 9 team won the pit crew challenge, but what was the winning time? Did they even bother showing that last night?
