It's been a few years since I've had anything besides boring modern cars so I've had my eyes open for something to keep me out of trouble or becoming a senior delinquent. Idle hands are the devil's workshop and all of that. Details: '73 Ford Ranchero 500 all original (except the wheels) 302 and 3 speed on the column, radio delete from the factory. Have the owners manual, warranty card and even the original key tag from the dealer. 70,000K original miles. I've always liked Rancheros, this is my second. I used to have a '58 some years ago. Plans are just to be a good caretaker, maintain it and enjoy it.

I had a 78 GT, great cars, and a couple El Caminos, and the Ranchero was the best car by pretty far.

The first car I routinely drove after getting my DL was a 71 Torino. I am a Chevy guy but back in the day my older brother purchased a 1973 Mach I Mustang and he handed the Torino down to me. That was my transportation for the summer and early fall of 1978 and allowed me to start working my first job.

It was lime green 4 door, plain and simple with a 302 engine. I was starting my junior high school year that fall and possessed with getting a hot rod so I didn't drive it long.
Like many kids I didn't realize how good I had it. I had a heavy foot and that Torino was one of the most reliable cars I ever drove. It was a tank and I mean that respectfully as a term to define the durability and not the size.

Thanks for posting the thread.

I also have the owners manual, original warranty card and dealer key tag. Car was in storage from about 1995 until a few years ago when it was returned to regular service. I don't hate the wheels that are on it but will be looking for some original steel Ford wheels and some poverty caps. Other option would be some vintage type American gray spokes which I think look particularly good on red cars.
