Cup RACE thread --- Richmond

All the bitching.....Ah, I have missed that! Hell yes TRD! Hell yes!

this thread is proof is why Nascar Fans don't know what they want and why Nascar should ignore them.

I mean everyone in the thread begging for a yellow to bunch the field up to make in interesting when Nascar does it the same fans cry and bitch about fake gimmick Yellows lmao.

You can't make this stuff up.

I selfishly just wanted a yellow to see if Chase had anything on the short run for the Gibbs cars lmao. Other than that I liked the race.

Funny.....Las Vegas odds makers had the Gibbs cars as favorites to finish 1-2-3........Do they know more than us ???

There's a difference between wanting a natural caution and nascar throwing a made up one

Yes, always. It’s amazing in football, basketball how close not only spreads are but O/U for total points usually is as well. Things like Ohio State being a 14 point favorite yesterday are rare misses for the sportsbooks

What sort of action were you looking for?

I don't know, maybe some passing here and there? Close racing up front? An occasional battle for the lead? Richmond is like Texas on a short track. Very dull. It has been like this for years.

That being said, it was probably a lot better in person. NBC sucks.

Richmond has become one of the worst tracks in nascar IMO

I saw a battle for the lead. The only criticism I have is that when only MY Toyotas are battling, I get really nervous.

Not everyone. I regularly tag a :( or even a  on every suggestion that we 'need' a caution.

Avoid unsupported absolutes.

so cool larson is already in the next round.
Absolutely. Larson and Chase is going to be there for the long haul. But, I'm really surprised that the 24 and 48 are on the outside looking in this early in the game. I don't know why the 48 team is struggling so much this year. They seem to start the race halfway competitive and then after the first pit stop they go backwards.:(

I still find all the wishing for a caution to be cringe worthy.
Safety is important and they are obviously are needed in those cases.
But I still want all the green flag laps possible and I will take a half a lap win any day over a caution to bunch the field up.
Don't like green white checkers either.

Richmond can be great. Really a lot of the dullness we have is due to how the gen 6 car runs on certain tracks.

I don't think it's fair to blame Richmond. NASCAR knew they messed up with the gen 6 car, hence all the package changes from 2015-today. With that many modifications, it seems natural that the car will just miss it at certain tracks.

That said I don't really think this race was dull. The 11 and 9 were having a solid battle for the lead, the 5 stormed through the field before losing the balance. The 20 was on a different tire strategy. We saw for the second week in a row, legitimate race winning speed, at times from Ross Chastain. Kurt's surprising wreck. Villain KB messing up. JGR getting it done at their best track, a lot like Roush at Michigan.

There was passing, albiet mostly due to the tire strategy.

NBC did a horrendous job covering the race though. Spent 80% of the first 250 laps covering Hamlin and Chase. And then the rest of the race covering JGR.

A solid, good, not great race, weighed down by poor coverage.

And Rick Allen/Burton handicap the rating anyway

I don't tune in to watch wrecker drivers and yellow flag parades, or to see the pace car lead the most laps.

Basically, when my guy is closing in on a win, stay green. When we need a caution to have a shot, I want a caution. 🤣

they already do that by the way lol

I thought it was great. Faster cars were able to pass. When the leader is the fastest car, he shouldn't be getting passed very often. Tire wear and throttle control, just the way I like it.
No pearn coming up and taking it away from Denny was icing on the cake

I have tried to find this information but can't. Can anyone tell me why/how Larson is locked in to Round 2?
