Yeah, I don't understand the no adjustments part. There goes a large part of the benefit of practice so why have it at all?

It didn't say no adjustments completely. It said no adjustments "under" the car. I don't think caster and camber, tire stagger and a number of adjustments I don't know about don't have to be done from under the car.

Wild guess about the no adjustments under the car rule. It could be about the 6 rub blocks under the car that keeps teams from being able to lower the car. Like the splitter on the current car, I bet the teams will try to keep the car as close to the track without dragging the rub blocks
Makes sense, I was thinking more about things like shock and spring changes.

The current car relies on a single-adjustment damper to absorb high-speed abnormalities on the race circuits. The race haulers are filled with dampers for engineers to choose from and then fine tune, while also choosing the correct spring rate. That will be no more. NASCAR has tapped Öhlins to provide a four-way-adjustable damper at all four corners. This will allow teams to tune a single unit for various tracks, with the potential for making adjustments on pit lane. As before, which springs are selected will be track dependent.

Not a big fan of this track in IndyCar tbh.
Run the Seattle city circuit from the Gran Turismo games instead.

I think they realized that NBC is gonna go for the golf anytime a race is happening and a golf tourny starts… considering they left races with 2 laps to go in order to show amateur golfing.
If anyone’s seen the movie Spinal Tap… this is starting to take a page off that. NASCAR would probably get bumped off air to show a puppet show at this point

Unfortunately, its going to replace Mid-Ohio if it becomes official.Glad to see this even if I don't live there anymore. Partly because an influential local media outlet is trying to kill the track, and seemingly failing.
The Nationwide headquarters is near Mid-Ohio, so naturally N'Wide wanted a race close to HQ. Still with the PNW date could be a momentum builder for the renewed West Coast expansion.
I appreciate Ben Kennedy and company taking risks.

Well, I definitely prefer Mid-Ohio.
I could appreciate Portland more if they'd do something about Turn 1. The Indy races I've seen have all started with an extended caution. It's is a buzz kill.
But we'll see.

I like all of NASCARs moves lately other than the Bowman Gray gimmick in LA. If they can fill out that stadium I’ll eat crow, though.
The Frances should really be keeping tradition down there in Daytona. Not a fan of them jacking Speedweeks around.
The All-Star race I actually am mostly OK with maybe rotating between Texas, Charlotte, Bristol I suppose
Not sure why anyone is upset at Portland getting a race, that market has needed NASCAR for a while.

Portland is much better suited for NASCAR than IndyCar IMO.
Or stop giving participation trophies and make it pole winners and former Daytona 500 winners only. I wish they would keep the Clash and sort out the idiots from the gentlemen.

There would be like 10 cars in the clash since we only had 6 qualifyings this season (plus another one at Phoenix)
That’s not the point. They can always use a substitute such as playoff drivers and pole winners method or a COVID excuse. They can work around that now that qualifying is coming back next year.
God I’d love to spend 2 weeks in Florida, and that would be great to see the Clash + ARCA on the same day.
Indy 500 has the build up including a preview race before their big event (at the RC), so yes. I will always miss the Bud Shootout/Busch Clash at Daytona.

NASCAR needs to stop scheduling races at places where it's known to have brutal heat during those time. A race in Atlanta in July and a race in Vegas in late September have no crowds because of the heat at these races. Vegas needs to be switched with Kansas or Texas and Atlanta needs to be a night race or move it to the fall.
Not many places are gonna be nice in July.
I personally think one of those Atlanta races should be back in Kentucky but SMI doesn’t wanna fix that facility back to the old Kentucky. I’m very surprised how much I hear about that state and NASCAR, same with Ohio.
Vegas is getting pushed back.

Interesting to look back at what used to be "Speedweeks" in Daytona and what it will be in 2022. New name should be "Speeddays".
Recall a time when there were ARCA races, IROC races, Goody's Dash series., a couple short track late model and modified races on the backstretch oval..etc
Take a look at the 2000 Speedweeks Schedule, admittedly it includes the Rolex 24, and compare it to what will be the 2022 schedule.

It used to be worth it to spend couple weeks at Daytona or nearby when travelling from Canada. NOT ANYMORE.

I know, it's sad. It's happening across motorsports. The Indy 500 used to have 15-20+ track days across May and April. Now they barely get a dozen days on track and that's INCLUDING the Grand Prix race on the road course they added a few years back.
It's happening in short track racing too. Less "festivals" of multi-day events, and more single-day shows.

These younger drivers are much better at road courses than in the past. They grow up racing go karts. Sadly, I would take Canadian tire all day long compared to Sonoma

Fantastic, the short track at Indianapolis return and Mid_Ohio will still have a NASCAR race.
Perhaps they are going to alternate Sonoma/Watkins Glen on the truck schedule every year now?
