Just wanted to make a public service announcement concerning hydration. Since there are no gerbils involved some here might be experiencing serious fluid depletion from the sound of engines running, uninterrupted.

Kinda sounds like the 6 lane I hear from my house. Doesn't excite me that much.

If they don't start crashing I'm gonna tune out.

Watching on NASCAR.com, and man... they look way faster than the current car. It may be the camera angles or something, but the corner speeds are way up.
I thought the same damn thing. Look at how they are going through the tight turns, just much smoother than what we were seeing on Sunday. Also the acceleration off the corner is really high. To me it looks like a bulky GTLM car which should be awesome. Ovals are going to be the intriguing part in my opinion, the dirty air effect has to be mitigated some

Larson is three wheeling it going into turn 4 (I think, right hander in infield). The left front is coming off the ground and locking up. So cool looking...

Yeah. The speed they have coming back onto oval turn 1 is unreal compared to yesterday. Same with chicanes.

They're currently showing Larson, and he's locking the fronts up 2 to 3 times a lap. Charging it...

Think it was stated on Twatter they are already running time identical to the race.
That's honestly surprising, as they look a couple seconds or more faster. (at least to my naked, untrained eye and no stopwatch.)

I would have liked if NBC put Jr in the pits to wander around and get input from drivers/teams. Maybe every 20 minutes or so? Some lap timing would also be nice. I'm really not paying an attention. Not much to see.

But I'm sure there are several regulars here with huge ummmm...bonnets, due to lack of conversation.

Looks like 17 broke something in driveline? Watching some of the workers have zero idea of what they are doing is sooooo frustrating. MOVE THE DAMN RED TRUCK!

Wish they had stayed on that incident to show if they picked rear of car up. Would have been indication something is transaxle/axles failed. Maybe that's why the track is quiet now? Having teams check XYZ? I'm just speculating here.

When it's full size like the 17 there, it's very off putting. The 23 using a smaller font does look a lot better.

I really didn't think they'd move it THAT far foward. I'd rather it be on the rear quarter panel. It just looks disgusting.

Next up, NASCAR will just eliminate numbers and we'll have to guess where our favorite driver is running by looking at a guide before the race and figuring out which sponsor they have this week.

And all the teams did with this is make the sponsor logo wider, move it up, or add other small, indistinguishable sponsor logos. Fail.

Only one I like but even then, it just looks too much like an IMSA GT car or Supercar.

Symbolic of the fact that NASCAR isn't satisfied with being stock car racing so it has to be something else instead.

Some of those are legit probably what will run next year haha. I mean the hendrick cars are obviously test schemes… but why wouldn’t the 16 and 17 be the 2022 scheme? That’s exactly what eVeRYoNe asked for…. There it is.

Now if we could only run all 36 point races in the state of California NASCAR would be grinnin’ from cheek to cheek

NFL is in trouble next year when the new nascar takes to the track

Some people are going to defend anything and everything NASCAR does.

They could move the Daytona 500 to Mexico and some people would say it's the best move ever.

Well nah. Because that actually changes something about the on track action, that’s a problem. Where the number is at on a car doesn’t change a damn thing about what happens on track. That’s what I care about.

Nobody tell this guy that Daytona 500 has only been the season opener since the 1980s.

Most NASCAR fans are older than the sports longest lasting traditions.

If you're referring to number placement, I disagree. It seems to me there are two camps: those who don't like it, and those who don't understand why anyone cares. We're ambivalent, not supportive.

Damn numbers being forward messing with the damn airflow of the car and the like handing and stuff! GOSH!!!
Appears it's thrown off the brake bias.
They put a transaxle in to better balance the cars, then they moved the numbers forward and threw off the weight bias AGAIN!

Did I say anything about the Daytona 500 being the opener?

No.

My statement was that they could move the Daytona 500 to Mexico and people would defend it. Meaning, they could announce that the Daytona 500 will now take place at the Mexico City road course and doing away with the Daytona International Speedway, and some people would find a way to justify it.
